Re: [CnD] Appearance of Microwave Baked Goods
I think you're right about this whole appearance thing. I think that's why I'm probably more self-conscious than what I should be when I'm around sighted people in the kitchen. Because of that, I've been hesitant about doing stuff around them, even the simplest things which is not a good thing. I'm learning, by this list's members, that I really need to do more and try more things. Re: [CnD] Appearance of Microwave Baked Goods
Well generally, yes, I agree. But if I'm serving something to sighted people, I want things to look good because most people don't have high opinions of blind people's cooking abilities. I don't necessarily expect people to see one cake and become completely convinced in our abilities, but hey, it has to start somewhere. grin. Re: [CnD] Appearance of Microwave Baked Goods
Hi all, I've done lots of cakes in my microwave. I like to use a bundt pan for this as it is attractive and makes for easier slicing. Depending on the type of cake, I sometimes make a simple glaze to drizzle over the cake once it has cooled. Re: [CnD] Appearance of Microwave Baked Goods
Hi, Colleen. I've only used a standard 12 cup Bundt Pan and a Rose mold Bundt, so can't comment on other sizes of pans, either. I have a 1000 watt Sharp Microwave, and I can do a standard size Bundt cake in about six or seven minutes. I just love that. Has anyone ever commented on the appearance of your cakes? I guess I'm just paranoid about how things look since I'm the only blind person in the family who likes to bake and share, so I feel like things have to look extra well prepared before I feel comfortable taking them to a family outing. Hi Lisa, Yes, my daughters, who are quite outspoken, and don't cut me any slack, bless them, have told me that my cakes look very good; at any rate, they gobble them right up. Would you please post some of the recipes you have for microwave cakes? I will post some of mine as well.
