No, the dough bakes the same as far as I can tell...it is much easier 
to work with when chilled.

I did not chill the dough before baking the first batch!
I was like the Cookie Monster!
Mmmm! Cookies!!
I used a soup spoon to scoop out the dough in about 1 and a half inch 
balds, put  them on a parchment paper lined cookie sheet and baked 
for 15 minutes at 350.

They were delicious and curbed my Cookie Monster craving...
I chilled the remainder of the dough and will bake them tomorrow 
morning to take to my in-laws for Easter.

Chef's Midnight Snack: Chocolate Chip Cookies

Ingredients:

1 cup shortening
1 cup granulated sugar
1/2 cup light brown sugar
2 large eggs
2 teaspoon vanilla extract
1/2 teaspoon baking powder
1/4 teaspoon salt
2-1/4 cup cake flour
3 cups chocolate chips

Directions:

1. Combine shortening and sugars in large bowl. Beat on medium
speed with electric mixer until well blended.
2. Beat in eggs, vanilla extract, baking powder and salt until well
blended.
3. Stir in cake flour. Stir in chocolate chips just until mixed in.
Shape dough into two rolls about 2 inches in diameter. Wrap tightly
in plastic wrap, and refrigerate for 4 hours or overnight.
4. Heat oven to 350 degrees, Slice dough about 1/2 inch thick.
Place on ungreased cookie sheets. Bake 10 to 14 minutes or until
firm and golden. Cool on cookie sheets 4 minutes; transfer to
cooling racks.

Makes about 4 dozen cookies.
