It was there many moons ago, then it disappeared...
Because other software present the same type of problem, notoriously  
ARP/wARP, I add this line to the system bashrc (if using bash shell):


export LC_NUMERIC=C

which does the trick for all of them.

Why en_US and not en_UK e.g.? We are not all living in America...

I assume LC_ALL=C (or LANG=C) would be the more 'universal' (politically
correct?) way.
BTW a similar thing is already in place for WinCoot ;-)

setting the environmental variable LANG to de_DE.UTF-8 (on a OS X 10.5  
machine). I guess this language setting is screwing up the PDB file  
parsing since german uses ',' as decimal separator…
