*POSITION SUMMARY*
The Operations Testing Engineer II, as a member of the Operational
Acceptance Testing (OAT) team, focuses on operational testing, validation,
and acceptance of all code and infrastructure component deliveries to The
College Board SAT production environments. This individual will perform
integration, vendor, and end-to-end tests, will support acceptance testing
in the OAT environment, and may support other products besides SAT. The
Operations Testing Engineer II will report to the Operations Testing
Director within Operational Support Services

The Operations Testing Engineer II will work with the Operations Testing
Director and the other Operations Test Engineer IIs in the planning and
execution of Operations Acceptance Test (OAT) cycles for new releases
including test scenario creation, test data setup, test execution, and
validation. The Operations Test Engineer will also support patch testing
activities and other operational activities, such as operational data loads,
in the OAT environment. The Operations Test Engineer II will also be
responsible for working with the rest of the OAT team to ensure that the
operations testing environment is prepared and available in time for
scheduled activities. This includes reviewing the bill of materials,
generated by IT for deployments to the OAT environment. While this person
must be an experienced tester and technical in nature, he/she must be a
self-starter, who communicates well and works well with other technical
folks and business owners.



*ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS/RESPONSIBILITIES*
• Prepare and execute test cases in collaboration with business owners to
ensure that new patches and releases will address their business needs.
• Create a repository of reusable test scenarios and cases for each Use Case
requirement.
• Execute manual and automated test scenarios and cases.
• Develop automation scripts or tools, using either commercial automation
tools or programming languages such as, Perl, C++, or Java, to create test
data for each operational testing cycle, regression testing, and reference
data validation.
• Support testing efforts, such as environment shakeout, validating
reference data feeds, and providing database validations.
• Create automated test scripts for post deployment validations in
Production or OAT.
• Use PL/SQL and other tools for data setup, validation, and troubleshooting
issues.
• Enter all defects in Rational ClearQuest. Ensure that the impact of
defects is clear and the priority is correct.
• Work with IT to troubleshoot defects and to identify solutions to issues.
• Collaborate with the IT Quality Assurance group on testing efforts.
• Participate in additional environment requirements and test cycle planning
activities.
• Coordinate OAT environment changes with business owners including
upgrades, data refreshes, and any other deployments
• Determine and communicate the impact of all proposed environment changes.
• Be a point of contact with the Software Engineering and Infrastructure
Group for environment maintenance issues, ensuring that milestones are met.
• Communicate progress on testing efforts and defects to OAT team and
Operations group.
• Work closely with vendors on testing efforts.
• Support User Acceptance and Operational Acceptance testing efforts, by
reviewing test scenarios, preparing the test environment and data,
validating reference data feeds, and providing database validations.



*MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS**
Education/Experience:*
College Degree in computer science or related technical field required.
Over six years testing experience with Web and client/server applications
and relational databases
Over three years experience developing SQL scripts and PL/SQL procedures for
Oracle databases
Back-end testing experience with SQL, PL/SQL, XML, and Unix/Perl scripting
preferred
Front – end testing experience, including testing through web and customer
service tool interfaces.
Experience with both manual and automated test design and execution
Experience with Rational toolset, including Requisite Pro, Clearcase,
ClearQuest, and Rational Manual Tester. Experience with Rational Functional
Tester is a plus.
Proficient with developing test cases and creating input data for testing
custom applications
Solid progressively responsible experience in back-office operations
required
Experience with the software development life-cycle
Strong teamwork and collaboration skills required
Ability to collaborate with other technical folks as well as business
owners.
Strong process improvement experience required
