OVERVIEW FROM OUR CLIENT:

We have been instructed by a client to implement the SiteCore CMS for one
of the websites that we manage for them. We do not currently have any
SiteCore platform, software, environment or knowledge. The current client
website has a mixture of static content and custom client/server
functionality. The current website is written in VB.NET with a SQL Server
2008 database. The client needs to retain all the custom functionality, but
also to have full CMS functionality available.



We are currently looking at two options:



1. Replace the existing .NET platform with a SiteCore platform that
controls all the navigation  design, and seamlessly integrate the existing
custom .NET functionality into SiteCore pages.

2. Keep the existing .NET platform  functionality, add SiteCore as a
separate platform, then have seamless common navigation  design across the
two platforms.



TASK SUMMARY



Look at the current application and the client’s new requirements, and
advise on the best approach from the two options described above.

If option #1 above is chosen, work with .NET developers to convert their
applications into modules that can be seamlessly integrated into SiteCore.

Provide estimates for effort, and work with a Project Manager on creating
detailed technical tasks and milestones.

Implement a new instance of SiteCore, hosted on infrastructure. Advise on
hardware requirements, obtain all software and assist with licensing, and
set up the full framework with suitable user roles, users, etc.

Transfer existing static content into the new CMS.



Traintechnical personnel on how to administer the site in the future
(setting up workflows, users, permissions, adding new modules, etc.).

Traintechnical and non-technical personnel on how to manage site
content (from an administrator and editor perspective).





CANDIDATE REQUIREMENTS







Own the entire technical aspect of the project. A Project Manager, QA
resources and .NET developers will also be working on the project, but they
will not have any SiteCore experience.

Very experienced (to ‘guru’ level) in all elements of SiteCore
(installation, configuration, maintenance, etc.).

Experience successfully achieving the tasks described above.

Interact with internal team members and clients.

Successfully complete all tasks and milestones on-time.

Able to work in Cedar Rapids, Iowa, for several months.
