Location: Detroit, MI Duration: 2+ years Interview: Phone and then Skype OR Face to Face interview if local NO OPT CANDIDATES PLEASE! (Strongly prefer US Citizens or Green Cards BUT will look at H1B visa candidates as long as they have outstanding communication skills) This position requires an individual who is both technical and has strong leadership skills. The ESB (WebSphere) engineer performs the installation, configuration and day-to-day tasks associated with ensuring the smooth and efficient operation of a SOA environment. General responsibilities are: Install application server software and create the necessary environments required by the system development life cycle. Configure all environments to each application's specific requirements (such as JDBC, JMS, web services, High Availability, Session Management, Security, Service Integration Bus, etc…). Proactively performance tune each environment as well as reactively troubleshoot problems that occur. Provide development and break fix support. Additionally, this job has the following responsibilities: Technical Duties and Activities • System design including fault tolerance and high availability solutions. • Work with application project teams to provide feedback on designs and gather requirements for the application server environment. • Create and Modify WebSphere clusters required to implement the different logical environments in the system development life cycle (dev, test, stage, prod). • Create and Configure application instances within each of the cells as required. • Configure Security as required (SSL, single sign-on, administrative, application, etc…). • Configure the required web server (IIS, iPlanet, IHS) with the Application server software plug-in. • Configure the Application server software to each individual application's requirements (Services Integration Bus - JMS / Web Services, JDBC, Security, etc…) • Set up the Application server software and each application to be highly available with the goal of 24x7 up-time. • Performance tune the Application server software so that it is optimized for each application. This will include working closely with the application development teams to administer load testing and monitoring. • Deploy applications to the Application server as well as define and set up automated application deployment mechanisms. • Provide development support to the application development teams. • Research and troubleshoot problems related to the Application server software, the applications that run on them as well as the external systems that they interact with. • Communicate regularly and effectively with other team members, clients (application developers) and vendors (other technology teams). • Provide outage support as needed working with an enterprise action team. • Provide estimates, updates and documentation for work assigned. Administrative Duties and Responsibilities • Act as a technology resource and mentor, as required • Ensure all team members are cross-trained in all departmental responsibilities • Define and execute training plans to keep team members current with applicable new technologies • Manage the on-going maintenance, support and deployment effort associated with Infrastructure; conduct team meetings, status meetings, create status reports and SLA reports, etc. (The Engagement Manager will support this role as the overall Program Manager.) • Recommend, initiate and manage process changes to make the program more efficient • Ensure documentation repository is appropriately maintained, SLA’s and standards are met • Act as a technical liaison between program teams and technical resources, when required • Work with the Engagement Manager to ensure smooth running of the program • Ensure team adheres to all processes and procedures • Ensure team adheres to all internal documentation, processes, time tracking, PET, etc. Qualifications / Skills Requirements: Experience managing diverse cultural work environments • Excellent oral and written communication skills – particularly oral. The ability to explain technical issues in business layman’s terms is critical. • 5 years of experience with WebSphere Application Server • 3 years’ experience as a team manager or leader • Agile / Scrum SDLC approach experience highly preferred • Web servers (IIS, iPlanet, IHS) • Experience with WebSphere AppServer, Tomcat, JBoss, Apache, DataPower, WMQ, WXS, GSA, RabbitMQ, API Gateway, and API Portal • Automation Experience - Shell scripting, Python, Unix • Languages - Java, J2EE • Products - Tomcat, WebSphere, Jboss, Apache, AP
