The most strange thing is that your e-mail changes in the log...

[courier-users] Problem using authlib-mysql and authdaemond

2007-08-17 Thread Christopher Hartung
Hi there,

i've a little problem using courier in associate with authlib-mysql. I'm
using Fedora core 3 and compiled all the courier stuff (courier and
courier-authlib) for myself. After compiling i installed the following
packages:

courier-authlib-0.59.3-10.fc3
courier-authlib-userdb-0.59.3-10.fc3
courier-maildrop-wrapper-0.56.0-1.3
courier-authlib-pipe-0.59.3-10.fc3
courier-authlib-mysql-0.59.3-10.fc3
courier-authlib-debuginfo-0.59.3-10.fc3
courier-0.56.0-1.3
courier-imapd-0.56.0-1.3
courier-mysql-0.56.0-1.3
courier-authlib-devel-0.59.3-10.fc3
courier-maildrop-0.56.0-1.3
courier-debuginfo-0.56.0-1.3

My authmysqlrc - config looks like this:

MYSQL_SERVER 127.0.0.1
MYSQL_USERNAME syscp
MYSQL_PASSWORD **
MYSQL_PORT 0
MYSQL_DATABASE syscp
MYSQL_USER_TABLE mail_users
MYSQL_CRYPT_PWFIELD password_enc
MYSQL_UID_FIELD uid
MYSQL_GID_FIELD gid
MYSQL_LOGIN_FIELD username
MYSQL_HOME_FIELD homedir
MYSQL_MAILDIR_FIELD maildir
MYSQL_WHERE_CLAUSE postfix='Y'

My problem is that authdaemond creates a sql-statement to get
information of the user like this:

*Aug 16 18:00:56 vs249166 authdaemond: SQL query: SELECT username,
password_enc, "", uid, gid, homedir, "", "", "", "" FROM mail_users
WHERE username = "[EMAIL PROTECTED] " AND
(postfix='Y')*

So the authdaemond isn't using the MYSQL_MAILDIR_FIELD parameter. I also
changed the config-files like imapd so that MAILDIRPATH isn't used. But
the problem is still there. Do you know problems like this? Did i
misconfigured something?

Thanks for your answers

Greetings
chris

You are running a prehistoric version of Courier that nobody uses any more.
You'll have a better chance of getting help with any issues if you upgrade
to the current version. Nobody really remembers any known problems or issues
with this old version.

It doesn't really matter what authmysqlrc "looks like", but rather what it
actually is. The comments at the beginning of the default authmysqlrc
explain its format. Remove any extra whitespace at the beginning and at the
end of each line.

[courier-users] Courier Blacklist in esmtpd is not working

2007-08-17 Thread Maik Brauer
Hello,

I'm trying to use the Blacklist in Courier.
I've put the following in my esmtpd config file:
BLACKLISTS='-block=bl.spamcop.net,BLOCK'

But I can't see that it is working. To verify, if this is working I've
traced the network,
to find a request towards the Spamcop-servers, but I've seen nothing.

What is wrong? And what I've perhaps forgotten?

Cheers,
Maik

Make sure that the user's 'Maildir' was created with the 'maildirmake'
command and that the resulting directory is owned by the user himself.
So you either need to create the Maildir as that user, or run 'sudo
chown -R $USER /home/$USER/Maildir' command afterwards so that the whole
thing is owner by the user.

Then save yourself the trouble of having to do this again by running

sudo maildirmake /etc/skel/Maildir

Now any new users you create will automatically have a "~/Maildir"
already properly set up.

Dear Mattias,

Courier is a very powerful suite of programs with a lot of options.
Using apt to install it gets you a basic configuration. But there's
still a fair bit of work you need to do to configure courier to your
specific situation.

Go to "http://www.courier-mta.org/install.html"; and read through the
installation instructions. Of course, you won't actually compile and
install it; Ubuntu has already done that for you. But reading the
document will help you understand what the options are for configuring
courier and how the different pieces fit together.

Take a look at the default configuration files that Ubuntu has created
for you. The configuration files are in the '/etc/courier' directory.
And there are extensive man pages. Start with 'man courier'. Then
follow the links it gives you as well as the "SEE ALSO" section at the end.

After that, your best source of information is your log file. Courier
on Ubuntu will log to '/var/log/mail.log'. Look in that file and see if
it answers your questions about why you can't send mail.

Once you done that, *then* post your questions to the list along with
any relevant log and configuration files. It's hard to answer such a
broad question as "I can't send mail". If you give us more details and
show us what your log says when you try to send a message, then we can
give you much better help.
