[Coworking] 1 week from the launch of Company|Dallas

2009-05-13 Thread Matt Titsworth

We're exactly one week away from the Company|Dallas launch. May 20th
will be the big day, and I invite everybody on the user group
(especially those in the DFW area) to come by. We've got a stocked
fridge, Desks, chairs, tables, internet, and a Semantic web Workshop
for the kick off. We've been getting the word out and moving our butts
to let as many people as possible know, and I think we're almost
ready.

Still, I have this wierd butterfly feeling in my gut, Is that normal?

Best of luck.. and believe me your members will eventually help out and it

enjoy.

[Coworking] Re: Just Joined

2009-05-13 Thread WHERE MMM
I currently work with the vegan place next door to me and the coffee shop
that is two doors down. Additionally, there is a bakery next door to me that
does these amazing empanadas and grills during my Friday Night Networking
events.

It is fantastic that I don't have the food service issues and kitchen to
content with as running the space for coworking is enough of a challenge.

I have found that by working directly with the places next to me, especially
the coffee shop it encourages my members to feel like they are really
getting something special that we have created with the neighborhood and
allows them to feel more connected into the community when they are
automatically recognized as a WHERE member and show their coffee card for
example.

space that will also have a take out window near the back where it
won;t distirb anyone but can make renue for the location and provide
the Co-workers sandwiches. We are looking at, for full members,
sandwich tokens where they would get 3 free sandwiches a month or
 something like that.

Thoughts anyone? Is anything like this being done anywhere else.

I myself am a New Media consultant that advises not-for-profits,

   strategies.

Glad that I have this resource as I am hoping to see how I can promote
   the Co-working philosophy locally.

I am traveling tomorrow to another College town --- Champaign Illinois
to go and speak with the founder of the recently opened Co-
working space down there to see if I can pick up some tips.

I have a local business owner that has a old Quizno's that is vacant,
but he has built a very nice restaurant next door with a private
meeting room upstairs that would serve as our space. He is looking to
just cover his costs. I have shown him some online videos and pricing
structures of other spaces and he is also going to Champaign on this
   fact finding mission.

I'll keep you all updated and look forward to reading past posts on
topics that I' sure I will have questions on.
