[Coworking] Re: How can I utilize Meetup for my Coworking Space?
Congrats on the opening, Brian... I started a Meetup back in August (several months after opening our 1st location) for 2 reasons: as another promotional avenue; and as an easy, central place to list events. We have several each month, in 2 locations. http://www.meetup.com/BEAHIVE/ I push it to our members (of which maybe half or more have joined) as a way to more easily stay informed by telling them: I continually hear folks lament missing one of our events because they forgot. Join the Meetup to get reminders of the specific events that interest you. It's been slowly growing and is now nearing 80 members, most of whom are not directly affiliated with BEAHIVE, several of whom have become actual paying members by discovering us through the Meetup. I use the Meetup RSS to feed into a Google calendar that is on our website: http://beahivebeacon.com/events.html I also put the Meetup URL in an events ad in a regional magazine that we partner with on our 2nd location (in addition to our BEAHIVE website URLs). We are in the heart of Lower Manhattan, so terms like neighborhood and community can sometimes seem so daunting, and we don't want to limit ourselves to the immediate area. We are having a jelly in the near future, FYI. I've been attending Meetups and contacting organizers to offer our space for future meetups and this has been a great start. But I'd like to know how other coworking spaces have utilized meetup.com in the past, specifically, have you created a group and has it been successful? Do you have any other recommendations beside what I mentioned above? Is there something else out there that is a more appropriate place to look into? [Coworking] Re: How can I utilize Meetup for my Coworking Space?
Hi Brian, I'm in the planning stages for coworking in Fort Collins, CO. I started a meetup group for people interested in coworking and already have nearly 30 members and 10 signed up for the first meetup. Am using meetup to reach out to independent workersfirst meeting will be informational about the concept of coworking and will gather everyone's thoughts about it and how it could be implemented in FC. Already had an impromptu focus group and got the most excellent and consistent feedback about what services should be offered, location preference etc. Here's a link to mine if you want to look at it. http://www.meetup.com/Fort-Collins-Coworking/ I can see myself using meetup in order to host various jellies once the space is up and running. I have also posted a poll for people to respond to and have a question up that people can answer regarding location preference. -Angel On Jan 6, 1:25 pm, brian difeo briandi...@gmail.com wrote: Here at the Hive at 55 http://www.hiveat55.com, we are a little over one month old and are considering ways to get potential members through the door. [Coworking] Question from Miami Beach
Hi Co-warriors, So I just got back from scouting potential locations for South Beach's first coworking spot. Good news, there's tons of space. This has led to a few questions for which I was hoping you could provide some answers:: 1) How important is ground location? Do you rely on walk-by traffic or office space on upper floors works just as well since most other co-workers find the place virally? 2) Are credit checks standard and did you give a personal guarantee? 3) How many months security deposit did you leave? 4) Per the awesome suggestions on the board, we've got a core group of 5 that are going to be residents. Should we collectively form an LLC or should one of us (me) just take on the responsibility? I understand with more members there's more people to agree on action. The forum has really been beneficial for me, so I thank you! Regards, Woodie -- You received this message because you are subscribed to the Google Groups Coworking group. Congrats, I tweeted it, this seems a lot like what Bootup Labs is doing up here. We were just at their new offices at Hastings and Cambie, they're getting their next cohort of 7 companies real soon too. [Coworking] Re: Coworking on NPR
Agreed...we have gotten lots of press over the past 2 years and most of it doesn't bring in long time members. It does seem to increase awareness and build brand validity, so there is something to be said for that. And of course, press on even one space is beneficial to all in terms of people learning about coworking options out there.
