[Coworking] Re: Opening a coworking space in Kathmandu

2014-06-02 Thread Vidhan Rana
Hi Alicia, most of our clients are Nepalese. There are companies based our
of Australia and the US using our space but most of their workers are also
Nepalese.

Please do visit when you are in Nepal. It is a beautiful country that you
should definitely visit.

Re: [Coworking] Re: Printer suggestions, please?

2014-06-02 Thread Mychael Taylor
Hi Tom, thanks for the fair warning. Our printer is currently included in
all memberships, but we're toying with the idea of charging after a certain
number of pages. Hoping this idea would encourage our members to take huge
print jobs to Fed-Ex Kinkos down the street.

We're hosting a town-hall meeting Wednesday to hear more feedback from the
community on this topic along with others. I appreciate your feedback in
our quest for a new printer!

It would be fun to take this a step further and just think about members or
owner opening their homes to visiting coworkers whether the home owner is
there or not. Commute to cowork together, live together :) We're piloting
this between coworking space owners this fall. More details soon!

[Coworking] Re: Who's shopping for electronic door locks?

2014-06-02 Thread Jay Chubb
Actually I'm just on this post right now, I'm totally dying for some info!
I'm on a tight budget after a huge fitout and I'm stuck using old school
keys. Someone in Melbourne has a Lockitron prototype and they say it works
great, but it and Goji just seem vaporware with these huge delays. I'm also
not super technical, so some of the roll your own stuff feels way beyond
me. Can't wait for your response!

Cheers, Jay

I love this! Susan and I have talked about something very similar where we
invite people to come to Seattle to join the Office Nomads team for a week,
or a month to get hands on experience in an established community. We've
been talking about it for a long time but haven't pinned down any details
as of yet. What do people think about that idea? I also love to travel so
give me an excuse and I'm there!

[Coworking] Meeting with coworkers for space improvements - any advice?

2014-06-02 Thread Kate Catlin
Hi all,

We've been open about 9 months and now that we're getting close to full, we
see more and more of a need for a formal symposium process for our
coworkers to give us feedback and brainstorm ways to be a better space!

Any guidance or advice on the best way to go about this?

What we DON'T want is a complaining session that ends with a lot of
negativity. What we DO want is a productive conversation that leads to all
our coworkers feeling more bonded and involved in the space!

Thanks a lot for your feedback!

Actually we are a stablished home exchange community called happyhamlet.com.
We are still finishing the development in order to create a subgroup for
coworkers, you can take a peek here:
http://www.happyhamlet.com/hamlet/coworking

I would like to start a pilot with some coworking spaces, I already have a
few interested in Europe: the one I'm based in Barcelona and others in
Vienna and Berlin, but we need a few more to reach enough critical mass.
And everywhere, not only in Europe.

Please, if anyone is interested drop me a line.

I'd try committees where groups of tenants have input towards specific

Re: [Coworking] Meeting with coworkers for space improvements - any advice?

2014-06-02 Thread Andy Soell
We have a monthly member lunch where we order a bunch of pizza and catch up on
what everyone's up to. A part of that is always giving updates on the space,
talking about issues that come up and ideas for improvement. It's always been a
super positive experience for us, even when people do have legitimate issues
they've been unhappy with. Something about free pizza probably helps :)
