Re: [Coworking] Furniture - Any recommendations on sourcing?
We bought these training tables by Balt: http://www.amazon.com/Balt-Mentor-Seminar-Table-Black/dp/B005CHY2HS/ref=pd_sim_sbs_op_1?ie=UTF8refRID=1FAYC2GYCB3F2RKY2R84 We ordered the first batch through globalindstrial.com but when we needed an additional one we discovered the Amazon link above. As it turns out, free shipping via Amazon Prime saved us more than the cost of Prime membership on just that one item alone. The table have worked well for the past 1+ years. We usually have them pushed together to make a sectional conference table (3 72 tables in the middle with a 60 table on each end). The only oddity is the pencil trough molded in to the top at each seating position. We get a lot of flashback to grade school comments, but no one really objected to it. You may check out Uline, its not contract but they have some surprising prices. Also, depending on how many training tables you plan to store, sometimes using ones without casters but storing and moving on a dolly made to move them can be a great space-saving. I'm new to the group as of yesterday and love the amount of great info and sharing in this group. I'm in the process of building out a coworking space at the moment and am researching options for furniture. I've been looking into all the secondhand stores, but everything seems pretty junky and I'd like to have the space be fresh, bright and clean (no old lacquer finish chipping off on our forearms, please!). Have any of you been able to make connections with someone who will sell desks, chairs at wholesale? Any other recommendations? [Coworking] Fresh off the coworking presses, with community as the focus!
Two big (and pretty great) feature-length pieces in the last week, both featuring quotes from folks across the coworking lands, and multiple members of our community at Indy Hall. Nice work to everyone involved :) Links descriptions below. Now, if only we could get them to dehyphenateanybody have a contact at the AP? -Alex *BizJournals Philadelphia - cover story! * http://www.bizjournals.com/philadelphia/print-edition/2014/07/18/co-working-any-old-space-wont-do.html?ana_phil_upc24=b=1405608041%5E14989821page=all *Also, this bonus behind the scenes of the interview I gave includes a 3000 word transcript, direct copy/paste, from my exchange with the author. * My hope is that more people can get a taste for how I respond to questions in a way that helps the journalist tell a story for when *you* talk with the press. When you just blurt out an answer and hope for the best, ALL articles about coworking suffer. http://dangerouslyawesome.com/2014/07/behind-the-scenes-of-a-front-page-interview-coworking-any-old-space-wont-do/ *Success Magazine* This one made me laugh when I got the call for an interview back in the fall. What an obnoxious name for a magazine. But I was pleasantly surprised with such a community-centric article. Even if it's got a few weird 'bloops' in it, it's well cited from a variety of sources, which I love. As an aside, Larry Keller, the author of this piece, even visited Indy Hall. Afterwards, he called me to say *I've never been in a workplace that felt so right, so welcoming before. It was like walking into someone's cozy home, but clearly way more productive. You clearly weren't making up the stuff you said on the phone.* http://www.success.com/article/community-in-co-working-and-other-perks-of-the-business-trend -- /ah indyhall.org coworking in philadelphia -- Visit this forum on the web at http://discuss.coworking.com --- You received this message because you are subscribed to the Google Groups Coworking group.
