[Coworking] Technology to facilitate access to a coworking space

2015-11-19 Thread Kim Auclair
Hello, I do not speak good English so I use google translate to ask my
question.

I have a space cowoking in Quebec City and I want a technology that let me
easy access. Currently, everything is done manually. I give the keys to
regular tenants after a while, but for the night, if I have to welcome new
tenants, I'm not always on hand to open the door.

I know there are code-related systems doors, applications that manage
everything else. I do not know what to choose, however.

What are your recommendations?

[Coworking] Re: What operating lease for a mailing address?

Thank you for your quick return Jeannine.

People I have consulted so far say that I must be careful with this
approach. I just write to corporate registrars to see what is possible. You
gave me a few pointers.

By the way, I'm from Quebec City. My coworking space is actually the house
my father that I quietly rebuke.

I'll come back if I have questions and also inform you what I will do about
it.

[Coworking] What operating lease for a mailing address?

2015-03-30 Thread Kim Auclair
Hello. I'm not 100% bilingual. I translated the following with Google
Translate. The French version is found below, just in case.
-

I received last week a particular application and I would like your
opinion. I have an entrepreneur who wants to have a mailing address only to
my coworking space. It wishes to provide a postal address other than that
of his home.

I usually provide this service to those who are regular members on site. I
do not know how to structure this service. I do not also know what it means
to me that the address of my coworking space is disseminated in business
registration documents on his side.

Do you offer this service? How do you operate?

Re: [Coworking] How to know a coworking space locally

2015-03-17 Thread Kim Auclair
J’ai de l’aide de ma famille, car c’est la bâtisse à mon père. Ils m’aident

[Coworking] How to know a coworking space locally

2015-03-14 Thread Kim Auclair
Hello. I have a coworking space in Quebec City which is away from downtown.
I am looking for new ideas to market locally and thus recruit more regular
members.

It is, more specifically, the small commercial building with my father I
quietly rebuke. I hold for the moment the basement.
www.niviti.com/espace

The advantages of my co-working space are:

- Warm atmosphere (that's what people say)
- Situté next to a primary school. So balancing family and work for
self-employed and start-cartier entrepreneurs. Children sometimes come to
join their parents to leave home later
- Coaching and Mentoring for Free regular members

Here's what I've done so far:

- Events: These are small events that brings together 20 people max. People
come from all over Quebec. It allows you to know otherwise. I made also
with local contractors.
- Jelly Day (free for autonomous upon Workers) http://jellyquebec.com/
- Provide Web Visibility (blog, social media, etc.) and mentoring for
regular members
- Contact local newspapers to talk about my coworking space - what worked

Do you have any other ideas?

(Sorry for my English. I'm not 100% bilingual)

[Coworking] I am 21 and the cofounder of New Jersey's newest coworking space, JuiceTank

2012-12-19 Thread Zion Kim
I have been reading a lot of your posts in the last hour and have been
inspired that the spirit of coworking has transferred from your physical
communities to helping others joining the world of coworking.

I'm not as interested in renting out desks (although bills need to be paid)
as I am about fostering a physical social network and using our space to
serve as the foundation for a community that shares it forward.

I am a firm believer that no matter how little experience one may have,
there is always something one can share with another person in order to
leave them better off.

I am eager to learn as much as I can from all of you and thank you so much
for all that you have done so far.

I look forward to connecting with you!

[Coworking] Booking System compatible with WordPress

2012-02-20 Thread Kim
We are still growing our facility and have found that people have been
more interested in booking our event and meeting rooms as non-members
than they are using the facility as a coworking facility or even
private offices.

We have four areas that are available to be reserved by the hour. I am
trying to find a WordPress plugin that I can use to display
availability of the areas in our members only area of the website.
Ideally, I would like members to be able to request reservations
through the system rather than have to add in all the events myself.
Can anyone point me in the right direction?

Unfortunately, at this point we aren't budgeted for anything that
requires a monthly fee.

Best Wishes,

Kim

Re: [Coworking] Re: Coworking article in ... Airtran Magazine???!

2011-09-22 Thread Dakota Kim
Hi guys!

I wrote this piece. Of course, as I'm sure you know, there is so much more
research information that pretty much every journalist wants to include in
an article, and I'm really interested in the sociological aspects of
coworking, but this was a straightforward business piece focusing on the big
spaces and their stats.

One of the most interesting comments from many of you was that you all had
very differing views on how mainstream coworking would go. Some of you could
see it going very corporate, as you already had many telecommuting corporate
coworkers, and others didn't think it would happen or work, because of its
community nature.

I was thrilled to interview people like Alex, Tim, and the other founders of
coworking spaces, who are such fascinating, hard-working, brilliant
entrepreneurs and community members.

I have coworked at various spaces with friends including Brooklyn
Coworking/The Change You Want to See (sadly closed, I believe, due to high
rent), which inspired many others to open coworking spaces. I would like to
write more about the smaller spaces someday.

Would really encourage you guys to pop up to Cambridge Coworking/C3's
Venture Cafe or talk to WeWork about their incubator-type program WeWork
Labs if you are an entrepreneur looking into a new endeavor. Of course, you
probably know about those already from the piece or your networks!

I'm impressed by my friends who belong to coworking spaces and at the new
ones popping up all the time. Greenpoint Coworking and Projective Space are
two that have come onto my radar lately.

I don't have a physical copy of the piece either, yet.

Talk to you all soon,
Dakota Kim

support/organize/help produce a similar event here in NY. I look
forward to hearing feedback from the weekend.

[Coworking] Membership Levels

2010-12-31 Thread Kim
After putting my coworking plans on the shelf for several months, I'm
dusting them off for the new year and hope to open a coworking
facility this March or April. I plan to have the typical membership
levels for different amounts of time use over the course of the month.
Does anyone charge a higher fee for having a designated desk in a room
with a door and maybe one or two other desks as opposed to a dedicated
desk in a large common area? I'm working on the pricing levels for the
membership and wanted to additional feedback.

Thanks!

[Coworking] Coworking space in Linthicum, MD

2010-05-08 Thread Kim
Everything is moving forward smoothly for my new coworking space in
Linthicum, MD (just north of BWI airport). We will have a fairly large
facility because we are incorporating event space, conference rooms,
private offices as well as open coworking areas. We're targeting a
July 2010 opening. :-)

Is anyone looking for coworking space in the BWI airport area? Check
us out at http://smartlyspaced.com/

[Coworking] Re: Any coworking groups include WAHMs? (Work at home moms/men)

2010-03-22 Thread Kim
It's possible then I am really looking at two types of groups within
the space I am contemplating. MLM includes so much more than just make-
up. Many times strategies that work for one MLM could also be applied
to another MLM. Most of them have a need for recruiting and sales,
both of which could be expanded on when working with others in MLM.
There are many times a certain type of training is well taught in one
company, but would also work well in others. This is where a coworking
for MLM members would be good.

Maybe I'm not thinking of a coworking space at all, but more of a
refuge and professional location for those that work at home to
sometimes regain their sanity and still be able to work. A place where
team meetings could be held, open houses, sales presentations,
training, etc.

[Coworking] Any coworking groups include WAHMs? (Work at home moms/men)

2010-03-19 Thread Kim
I've been working with various MLM companies for more than a decade
and I've often thought it would be nice to have some place to just go
for a few hours a month to get away from the chaos of home. I was
wondering if anyone has members like that in their coworking groups?
I'm in the very beginning stages of setting up a coworking space. Some
of my thoughts are MLM companies could rent group meeting space for
training meetings, new product launches, etc. I know sometimes Mary
Kay distributors lease office space for their team, but am thinking
something like this might be more flexible. Just having a filing
cabinet of some sort away from their house could be beneficial. I know
I've fallen victim to a three year old tossing papers around more than
once. Sometimes it might be nice to be able to meet a potential
consultant without having to worry if their house is clean enough or
if they can be heard over the general noise of a restaurant.

Another question. Do any of you have Virtual Assistant Services
available on site?

[Coworking] New to the group Hanover, MD (near Baltimore)

2010-02-25 Thread Kim
I just stumbled across this group this evening. A friend of mine had
been talking to me recently about a project for an executive space in
Laurel, MD. I thought it was a really good idea and have been playing
around with the idea of doing something similar, but closer to me. I
currently own my own company as a Virtual Assistant and work primarily
in social media marketing. I've been brainstorming the past few hours
and searching the internet to see what other concepts similar to mine
were already out there. (Why reinvent the wheel?) So I came across
coworking and think it's a fantastic idea! I read about the Coworking
Visa project and noticed there is nothing in Maryland, so I thought I
could incorporate it into my idea as well.

I know there is still a long way to go as this is still in the
brainstorming phase and I haven't even begun to think of how to fund
it, but I think this is a good place for me to learn from others. I'll
probably just read what everyone else has to say for a while, maybe
asking the occasional question.

Nice to meet everyone!

Re: [Coworking] internal microblogging/private network broadcasting

2010-02-22 Thread Kim Slawson
I feel that this is a bit heavy-handed, technologically, for something like
this. I would, as the office manager, in a low voice, simply say "there's a
fresh pot of coffee on now." or "we're closing up in 20 minutes" or "who's
coming back tomorrow morning?"

Just my 2¢. I understand other people have other levels of tolerance for
systems as an approach to things like this. My like of "systems" seems to
wane as I grow older.
