Be nice if non American locations could be supported. The rest of the
world does not use 5 digit post codes and this site has it as a
mandatory field.

My first thoughts is it does seem to dup much of the wiki (thou a page
on the wiki of active/open sites would be an improvement).

Yeah I think I mentioned only supported US locations for now. I will work
on supporting international locations shortly. We harvested from an
existing project we had lying around for a proof of concept, so it wasn't an
intentional sleight to international facilities, I promise.

It dupes facility listings, but imho the unstructured nature of data in a
wiki actually hinders rather than helps promoting existing facilities.
However, a wiki is the perfect tool to collaborate on trying to form new
spaces. Again, that is just my view point and why I threw together a proof
of concept and asked for feedback.

Things I would love to do are add support for co-working visa program,
international support and allow uploading of facility logos. Also, I will
have one of our designers look at addressing some UI issues.

Additionally we have some bigger ideas in store that should really help
drive traffic to existing facilities.

[Coworking] Re: Co-Working Directory

2008-09-27 Thread Alex Hillman
The other major problem with wikis is that the non-geeks in the room (which
is more and more every day) don't know how to use them, well or at all. This
is a great step in the right direction. Lots of directions this can go, but
I'm glad someone took the lead! Looking forward to seeing what's next on the
roadmap.

We've had lots of conversations about shared needs between spaces, so I hope
that improvements can be democratized a bit. I'd recommend creating a
uservoice.com account so people can add suggestions and then vote the most
valuable things up to the top.

Great, great stuff!

[Coworking] Re: Co-Working Directory

2008-09-28 Thread felicity at cubes

This looks great. Thanks for doing this. I wonder if maybe
there is a way to add the cross use membership component
that has been in discussion on this board to this piece? It
would be nice to have a central coworking directory like
this that also includes info on the sites with the
spaces that have "visas" as one called it to each other.

I am the first to admit that I am a non-Geek and have little
knowledge in how doable this might be.

Thoughts?

[Coworking] Re: Co-Working Directory

2012-07-20 Thread Charles Anderson
Hello!

This open-source complete co-working management package already exists!
YourVirtualButler, a cloud-based management software, is specifically
designed for this exact purpose. Creating the ability to easily book
meetings / rent co-working space, while allowing for invoicing, and
employee management to be significantly refined, YourVirtualButler is a
great example of how Dynamics CRM can literally change your business
forever. Be part of a global network of other co-working centers, allowing
many virtual and international customers to find your co-working space with
ease.

In the creation of the software, many open-source CRM clients were looked
at, but out of the respect of fellow co-working spaces, Microsoft Dynamics
CRM was chosen to allow for easy translation between other Microsoft
applications you use on a daily basis, such as Office, and Outlook. That
being said, we have developed our program to be easily translated into any
CRM, such as Sales Force for example, for convenience of use to our
customer base.

If you are interested in a free online webinar / demo, or even just further
information about the software, feel free to call toll-free at
1-888-982-8853, or send us an email at ahai...@yourvirtualbutler.com

Congratulations on your upcoming space! I'd like to find out more about it,

In any event, it appears you've mistaken this thread for a listings thread.
We don't actually seem to have one for that right now, but welcome to the

@Rest of community - What are we doing regarding a consolidated directory

collaborative effort.

Any thoughts? Ideas? Existing solutions?

Hey James,
You can try eworky.com too; we're working on having the directory as
comprehensive as possible, and it's collaborative too, meaning that
our users participate in making the directory luxuriant and complete
(by detailing the offers, rating the spaces, etc.)
Hope that helps!

[Coworking] Re: Co-working directory websites?

2012-05-20 Thread Jeannine
The European Coworking Directory is also my go-to resource; in Holland
there is http://www.Deskbookers.com, which is very promising for the
future (and the guys who run it are truly fabulous) but it is, well,
in Dutch and all which rather limits is usefulness geographically.

For specific requests there is Coworking Europe on Facebook, which is
a little chaotic but a good place to start for these.

I had just yesterday a request for a joint membership NL/UK and was
confronted with the absence of such a resource in the UK other than
worksnug -- which I love and am an Ambassador for, but is too broad
for this particular use; I also have regular requests for joint
memberships or Coworking Visa arrangements for NL/PL. Germany is
easy, they are terrifyingly well organized and could probably give us
a few tips in this area, as is Italy (tip o'the hat to the folks at
Cowo).

This is why I am volunteering for the wiki upgrade project *and you
should, too* because seriously, we need to get our collective shit
together on this. :-)

Everybody is making their own directory at the moment; I would myself
rather like to see us all making a directory.

Re: [Coworking] Re: Co-Working Directory

2013-01-24 Thread Jacob Sayles
Oren,

We would love your help on the wiki project. We also designed an open
coworking directory to take over the directory function of the existing
wiki but we didn't secure enough funds to take it on. There are lots of
directories out there though and each one has it's own secret sauce. I
believe the wiki has remained central because it's open and neutral but
without a budget it's difficult to build and maintain something better then
what we have already. The design we came up with addressed many of these
challenges and I'd still love to take it on someday. Perhaps that time is
soon. Let's talk.
