Hey folks-

Just wanted to say that our starter site went live today. You can check it
out at www.watercoolerhub.com

A more robust site is planned for mid-April, and we should have online
scheduling, payment and blog sections included by May 1st.

If you're local (or just enjoy a good road trip) join us on Aprl 15th for a
construction party and/or June 4th for our opening celebration.

Cheers!

I've been working in IT and Consulting for 17 years and although I'm
doing quit a few web projects myself I've found out that I'm not that
good a coder :( but seem to be better in talking and bringing people
 together.

By luck (or unfortune) I find myself working at home most of the time
on my projects and this is becoming painfull.. As a social person (the
human is not a solitairy creature) I miss the interaction with other
people and sometimes find myself sitting in the shopping centre just
 to see some people. (Sad)

Anyway, at the moment I'm exploring options for starting a coworking
space in Prague as there is a large community of independent workers
and creative minds out there that may benefit from collaborating in
real life rather than on the web.

As a start I've created the Independent workers in Prague Facebook
group to get the people together and discuss issues / needs.

I hope to et some positive response and to be able to take it from
there. It will be a long process but hey... I believe worth it.

 More later.

We are working out the details on a lease of an incredible
building in downtown Lancaster--the original powerplant, now
beautifully rehabbed--which will house not only a variety of coworking
spaces for 25+ individuals, but also a large coffee shop and separate
 performance venue.

That space sounds really cool. Send pics once you get moved in.

I've already learned a lot by reading through the threads here, and
look forward to contributing in the future.

Also, I've been working on some web tools for coworkers/coworkings
spaces. I talked with a local coworking space owner to understand what
problems he's running into with his space, and started building an
alpha shortly after we talked. I'm a couple weeks out from a beta. As
soon as I get it running, this group will be one of my first stops for
 feedback.

 Thanks!

Thanks Alex. Well, a guy in Atlanta has organized a meetup for those
interested in coworking. It's Aug 26th and the details can be found
here:

There are a LOT of people talking about coworking in the Atlanta area. From
where I'm standing (which is admittedly about 800 miles away), there needs

 everyone on the same page!

Once the whole scene is in one place, I think it will be clearer what
specific communities exist and what their needs are, and how coworking can
 help with that scene.

In the mean time...get to action! There are a few others from Atlanta in
this list, and I'm in touch with a number of others who have been inquiring.

If we can do anything to help facilitate getting the scene together in ATL,
you've certainly come to the right place!

Jacob,

Sounds like a plan. :) I'm hoping we can all peacefully co-exist in
the same town and work together to the benefit of all those who want
to cowork. I know there's your location in CapHill, I think there are
some in Pioneer Square and recently heard about some in Ballard and
perhaps somewhere else further north. I'd love to hear what your
experiences have been and just pick your brain.

[Coworking] Re: introducing myself

2008-02-24 Thread Alex Hillman
I think Bryce's point, and I have to agree with him, is that the information
you gave us tells us a bit about yourself, but not quite enough about what
you'd be looking for in a coworking space (besides cheap/equity rent).

If you look back over the history of this group, there are a number of posts
that explain that coworking is more than just shared workspace. If you're
just looking for space, this MIGHT be right for you, but know that many
spaces have cultures and expectations of their own, and you may want to give
them due diligence to make sure that your goals for the office that you
inhabit align with, or at least compliment, everyone else's.

Knowing that you are a startup, though, it sounds a bit more like you're
mistaking coworking for an incubator. While there are many aspects that are
the same...many aren't.

It'd probably be best for you to check out the wiki and see if there is a
coworking space near you, and if there is, contact the folks that run it.

Best of luck with your venture.
