[Coworking] Re: coworking with childcare

2009-10-27 Thread Paul Szymkowiak
Hi folks,

I've been lurking on the list for some time now: this is my first posting to
the list.

I'm based in Melbourne, Australia, and have - as part of a group - been
slowly working through ideas around extending some of the existing coworking
activities already underway in Melbourne. Childcare has been a hot
discussion topic for a group of us that are involved in the regular
Melbourne Jelly event (meljel). In addition to the Jelly crew, there appears
to be solid interest from mother's groups and new parents that we've
encountered.

Here in Australia, there are a number of regulatory considerations, and my
partner Stephanie has been investigating those.

We'd be keen to contribute our thoughts and research so far, and to learn
from existing efforts that have been trialed successfully or otherwise.

My thanks also to the openness and quality of the community associated with
this list. We're keen to reciprocate and share our experiences with you all
as our plans take shape.

Thanks & Best Regards,

Paul

Hi there,

I run Cubes&crayons which is coworking with childcare space.
We have been around for almost two years. Childcare is a whole
different element on so many levels. It would take essays to explain.
We love our space.

You can learn more at www.cubesandcrayons.com or on our
blog cubes.typepad.com/blog

Unfortunately I do not have much to contribute at this point. We would like
to set up a nonprofit operation, but numbers seem tricky.

[Coworking] Re: coworking with childcare

2009-10-28 Thread Ralf Lippold

Hi there,

Daycare for kids while their parents are coworking - that the future
of work, isn't it?

We plan to do this in the LockSchuppen - CoWorking in Dresden, as we
see great
benefit and especially less stress and lower impact with carbon
footprint as bringing
kids zu kindergarden is not necessary (or at least not as much).

We have not yet set up the LockSchuppen (an old unused building of the
German
Railway is our favorite location, http://twitter.com/LockSchuppen).

In the meanwhile we work virtually and are looking for easier and
leaner ways to
get the project going.

Cheers,

Ralf

Hi Ralf,

Wish you all the best with this. It is indeed the future of work, or
at
least some of us believe and have even lived it.
