Re: [CREATE] Ad designs needed

2012-03-19 Thread Nathan Willis
Hi Ale / Jakub,

My apologies; I was out most of the weekend. Jakub, I do think you should
fix the typo. Would you mind too terribly working up an additional layout
with some variant of the text: LGM: Where Graphics and Open Source
Software Meet / Click here to help a developer attend ?

Or possibly Where Graphic Arts and Open Source Software Meet

I ask only because it's slightly shorter and it uses action words in the
appeal (which supposedly prompts more people to click, if you believe the
theorists...). Slightly shorter words might let us increase the font size
a bit. At least I'd like to compare how that version looks.

Otherwise, very nice design; good color combo especially

Thanks,
Nate

  Hi,

Here is an idea for the next GSoC (2013): make CREATE an umbrella
organization for smaller projects and projects that work on compliance
  between apps a lot:

That would at the very least be:

  - MyPaint
  - SwatchBooker
  - Gpick

Then there's the case of manufacturing that seems to be a topic at
LGM, and that means projects like:

  - Thred (http://bit.ly/AmTCF6)
  - Sconcho (http://bit.ly/y6jjd8)
  - TMTP (https://github.com/sconklin/tmtp)
  - Inkcut (http://bit.ly/gGf49M).

And, of course, any team that needs support for some proprietary file
format -- we in the re-lab project are always happy to assist with
  that.

But it means that CREATE should enhance its profile as an organization.

Hi susan, long time no hear. While I am all for CREATE to get registered as an
unbrella organization, if you have a suitable student or even just ideas *for
this year*, you can probably vaguely put it under the linux foundations'
openprinting
list:http://www.linuxfoundation.org/collaborate/workgroups/gsoc/2012-gsoc-printing-projects
(after all, you are going to want to print the patterns out eventually,
right?... by the way, how is the pen-plotting idea coming along?)

And, of course, any team that needs support for some proprietary file
