Re: [Crm-sig] CRM and accounting
Hi Richard & Martin, Did you see that Kevin Gosling was recently appointed to replace Nick Poole as CEO of Collections Trust? http://www.collectionstrust.org.uk/about-collections-trust/the-ct-team/item/13849-kevin-gosling Kevin was at the MDA at the same time as Alice Grant and myself, and helped launch the first version of SPECTRUM circa 1994/5 -- I'm pretty confident that he could be persuaded to take a more proactively positive stance on the CIDOC CRM once he gets settled into his new role! Re: [Crm-sig] CRM and accounting
Martin, Thanks: that's a helpful clarification. I will be in contact with Alex Dawson in due course about future SPECTRUM work, and if I can find out anything (hopefully, anything positive) which is relevant to the CRM-SIG I will of course pass it on. Dear Richard, Since Nick Poole has left the Collections Trust, we have no expression of interest from their side to collaborate actively in an ontological modelling exercise, beyond a general statement of interest in our work. So, for the time being, it appears this activity of CRM-SIG has lost its home. Re: [Crm-sig] CRM and accounting
Dear Oeyvind, The scope decision was justified by the fact that at that time museums did not want to disclose object values. This seems to change to a certain degree, at least for auction data. I am quite in favour of a more general business model, which I'd suggest to include money-less transactions. I am looking for a community which would take over and support such a model with requirements and use cases. Since we lost the SPECTRUM model, we either need a new home for that or put a minimal model in the core CRM. [Crm-sig] CRM and accounting
Dear all, Does anyone know about attempts to use CRM or FRBRoo for modelling historical ledgers or other types of accounting information? I know that accounting as part of the activity of museums falls outside the scope of CRM, but historical accounts may be a different question. All the best, Øyvind
