[cross-project-issues-dev] Gerrit should now be back in service

2018-02-10 Thread Webmaster(Matt Ward)
Hi Folks,

Sorry about the lateness of this post. As of 4pm Eastern all Gerrit
services were back online.

The underlying issues were found in the move to Java 8(the cla-plugin
failed) and a missing symlink in the repository tree needed to locate
some repos(missing repos and therefore a broken index).

Thanks for your patience while Mikael and I sorted this out.

[cross-project-issues-dev] Asterisk shutdown, Jan 5th 2018

2017-11-27 Thread Webmaster(Matt Ward)
Hi Everyone,

As some of you may already know our Asterisk service has been failing
us recently, and we have decided to replace it with service from Zoom.us
. The shutdown date for Asterisk is January 5th 2018.

Due to the way in which Zoom works, and is priced we're changing how we
provide bridges. Unlike Asterisk where we provided a bridge on a per
project basis, we will be providing Zoom accounts(bridges) to our top
level PMCs with the expectation that they will help co-ordinate the
calls for any sub-projects they are responsible for.

Several PMCs are currently testing this service, and we will be sending
out more account details as they become available.

If you have any questions please let me know.

-Matt.

The wiki has been restored. We'd built a new package and were planing
on testing today(before a live deployment) but our puppet server decided
to push the change live last night. For now I've reverted to the old
package, stopped puppet from updating the affected nodes and I'll fix
what's broken in the new package.

[cross-project-issues-dev] Changes in the Eclipse.org batch signing service.

2015-04-30 Thread Webmaster(Matt Ward)

Hi,

As some of you who have been following bug 463510 know there have
been some changes to the signing service provided by the Foundation. As
of now the changes consist mainly of:

1) Increased verbosity in the logs indicate what Java version (6 or 8)
is being used to both execute the 'jarsigner' command as well as run the
jarprocessor

2) Previously signed files should no longer be re-signed
3) You can choose to use Java 6(and the old jar processor) or Java 8(and
a newer jar processor)

To use Java 8 for signing/processing you'll need to do one of the
following in your build:

1) Set the environment variable JAR_PROCESSOR_JAVA to 'java8' before
signing.
2) include 'java8' in the path for the file to be signed, ie:
/shared/download-staging.priv/myproject/java8/myjarfile.jar

If you do nothing, your builds should continue to be signed/processed
using Java 6 and everything should 'just work' as it always has.

Please let me know if you have any questions.

Re: [cross-project-issues-dev] Simrel Git repositories

Ok, I've added the simrel repos to Gerrit.

*Remember*, you need to update your repository URLS to the following:

ssh://committer...@git.eclipse.org:29418/simrel/org.eclipse.simrel.tests
https://committer...@git.eclipse.org/r/simrel/org.eclipse.simrel.tests

ssh://committer...@git.eclipse.org:29418/simrel/org.eclipse.simrel.tools
https://committer...@git.eclipse.org/r/simrel/org.eclipse.simrel.tools

ssh://committer...@git.eclipse.org:29418/simrel/org.eclipse.simrel.build
https://committer...@git.eclipse.org/r/simrel/org.eclipse.simrel.build

You will need to upload your SSH public key to Gerrit to avoid entering
your password repeatedly.

Also Gerrit uses a custom HTTPS password that you can see/set under

Re: [cross-project-issues-dev] SSH down on Build.eclipse.org?

2013-05-23 Thread Webmaster(Matt Ward)

I've just checked and the service is responding.

Most likely it's one of 2 things:

1) You've been blocked due to multiple 'bad' logins (from you, or
someone else on your subnet)
2) If this is the first time you've connected from your current IP, a
block was created and an 'unblock' email was sent to the address we have
on file for you(unless another committer on your subnet did it first)

If you send your IP to Webmaster I'll go digging.

[cross-project-issues-dev] Default JDK on Hudson

2013-05-22 Thread Webmaster(Matt Ward)

Hi Folks,

As most of you know by now we made a change for bug 407265 which
unset the JAVA_HOME variable for Hudson. However as some of you found
out this has caused some build issues as the 'default' JDK was no longer
1.6.0_21_x64(the current work around is to explicitly set the default
JDK for your build via the config page).

I talked to the Hudson team about how Hudson determines the 'default'
JDK and was told that there were 3 ways the JDK was picked(in order):

The JDK specified via JDK installation in the Global Configuration page
The JDK specified via the environmental variable JAVA_HOME
The JDK in the shell path

In the case of multiple installed JDKs the first entry is selected as
the default. In our case that means that the 'default' JDK is now
1.6.0_x32 .

My proposed fix is re-ordering the installed JDK list and making
1.6.0_21_x64 the first entry by editing the Hudson config file and
waiting for the weekly reboot to pick up the changes.

Given our proximity to Kepler this is the last change I'd like to
make(barring emergency fixes).

Re: [cross-project-issues-dev] Changes to JDKs on Hudson?

2013-05-16 Thread Webmaster(Matt Ward)
As fas I know there hasn't been any change to the installed JDKs. But
bug 407265 did request that we remove the default JAVA_HOME value.

The problems seems to be related to running with an old version of
JDK. Have there been any changes to what JDKs are installed on Hudson
and what is used for the build?

Re: [cross-project-issues-dev] Build.eclipse.org Down

2013-02-21 Thread Webmaster(Matt Ward)
Build is currently suffering from 2 dead disks(one in the /shared
arrray, and one within the system itself). Denis is currently working
on getting these repaired.

Since Hudson uses the /shared arrray to host job data, Hudson is offline
pending the array rebuild.

Re: [cross-project-issues-dev] Sonar down

We had to restart the sonar server after doing some work on the
underlying hardware. I've sent a note to the admin asking them to
restart the sonar process.

Re: [cross-project-issues-dev] Hudson job stuck

2012-09-25 Thread Webmaster(Matt Ward)

I've killed the job and it seems to be dead.

-Matt.

Dear Web Master

I would be grateful if you could kill the following job, or recycle
enough of Hudson to kill it:

https://hudson.eclipse.org/hudson/view/Virgo/job/virgo.artifact-repository.snapshot/752/

We've tried multiple times and it won't die.

Thanks.

Re: [cross-project-issues-dev] Hudson sandbox upgrade.

2012-09-25 Thread Webmaster(Matt Ward)
We can copy the job configs between the master and sandbox, but I'd
prefer to have projects 'volunteer'(as the JEGit folks have done) to
try out the sandbox changes instead of my randomly picking projects and
possibly hosing their builds(you're not writing directly into your
downloads area via Hudson are you? ;) as the sandbox has the same disk
access the master does.

is it somehow possible to copy some of the regular

Or maybe even auto copy once a week or so.

[cross-project-issues-dev] Reminder: hudson slave1 maintenance

2012-07-13 Thread Webmaster(Matt Ward)

Hi Folks,

Just a reminder that I will be pulling Hudson slave1 from service
Monday(July 16th) afternoon in order to redistribute it's resources. If
you've locked your Hudson build to that node it will fail while the node
remains offline.

While really short notice I'm going to be restarting Hudson in
20minutes to see if that will clear the 'infinite' rebuild issue we seem
to have encountered.

[cross-project-issues-dev] Hudson Jetty conversion

2012-02-28 Thread Webmaster(Matt Ward)

Hi Folks,

I know it's short notice but as it's quiet for Hudson this week I'm
going to move us off the Winstone servlet and onto Jetty. I've got
everything ready to go so at 4pm I'll shut Hudson down and then startup
the Jetty instance. I expect we'll be offline for about 10 minutes.
