As you can see in the example the border looks like border:1px dotted
#000; but unfortunately there are differences which my designer can`t
 accept.

Initial thought: shoot the designer ... but I guess that's not an option :-)

Compatibility with older browsers are also an issue so css3 is not
 the case.

What you have now isn't working as intended in IE6 and older.

I don`t like the way I did it. I still believe there is an easier and
better way. Tabs have id and span. They are more static than dynamic.
If I`d like to add third tab I have to modify the css as well.

I think the sliding doors variant I'm demoing here is easy to adapt...

...and it also comes with sprites if there's a need for it...

Besides: it works in IE, and everywhere else, regardless of mode, and can take
font resizing in all browsers - which yours can't as it stands.

Only a question of creating new images and adjusting styles for :hover/this for
alignment. No need to change CSS if you change order/number of tabs in the
source-code.

Georg,

I'm new to this list and have never posted before. So, please excuse this
interruption. But, I have a question regarding your sliding doors nav menu.

Why is it (in IE6) when I hover over each tab I see the background color for a
split second, and then, I see a smooth-rounded corner?

I am curious, because I love the effect. And, I have not taken the time to
examine your code to figure it out for myself.

Thanks for the insight.

Bill

Re: [css-d] Site Check - www.nsbhs.nsw.edu.au

Using Safari Version 2.0.4 (419.3) on my Mac, the only problem I see
is the Access the Intranet at home box on the index page. The header
wraps and actually the word home obscures Username.

Otherwise, it looks good. Nice and clean.

I apologize because I'm reading this in digest. But have you corrected this
issue? I looked at it in 2.0.4 (419.3) and I think it looks really good.
