[css-d] webiste not rendering in ie9
Hey All, I just installed ie9 beta and have started to fix the ie9 cufon bug on a couple of client sites. As I was checking over sites I noticed that one of them wasn't rendering at all. I don't even know where to begin. I validated the page's html. There are 6 errors that are linked to a facebook like button, and one duplicated id for a div, but the page renders fine on ie7, 8, firefox 3, safari, 3, safari 4, safari 5. Any ideas or clues on how to start troubleshooting for ie9? page is http://youngsbicycleshop.com Noah Learner || LEARNER DESIGN || www.learnerdesign.com e: noahlear...@gmail.com || p: 508.325.6626 || twitter: @noahlearner m: 9 Lewis Court || Nantucket, MA 02554 LEAVE YOUR MARK* __ css-discuss [css-d@lists.css-discuss.org] http://www.css-discuss.org/mailman/listinfo/css-d List wiki/FAQ -- http://css-discuss.incutio.com/ List policies -- http://css-discuss.org/policies.html Supported by evolt.org -- http://www.evolt.org/help_support_evolt/

[css-d] ie8 bug? The container div is inexplicably jumping around. Please help!
Hi all, Is this an ie8 bug? I have stared at this so long that I know I am missing something stupid. The site is at: http://gti.websitewelcome.com/~wwwbloc/ when you click on one of the other navigation links to : http://gti.websitewelcome.com/~wwwbloc/index.php?id=47 or http://gti.websitewelcome.com/~wwwbloc/index.php?id=50 the main container or wrapping div shifts over 8 pixels. [css-d] horizontal dropline menu list items expanding to fill entire Nav width
Hi All, happy holidays to all. I am having a problem getting my horizontal menu to display correctly. The list items expand to fill up the entire width of the nav. [css-d] Horizontal dropline menu help
Hi All, I am trying to implement a dropline navigation on my site. It is problematic when any of the main links have a sub menu because the active li expands in size horizontally to encompass the submenu's ul. This is a problem because it makes the menu break into two lines if there are enough submenu choices. If you look at http://www.youngsbicycleshop.com/modxtest/index.php?id=63 you'll see what I mean. On this page I want the width of the "li photogallery" to stay it's normal width and for the submenu's li's named " staff, bands, box fans, crowd, and halloween to spread on the line below. How do I do this? [css-d] Float clearing problem
Hi All, I am working on a page at http://www.learnerdesign.com/wing/index.html. In the middle of the page i have a div#indexran. Inside the div are three divs #ran1, #ran2, #ran3. I have them all floated left with a clearing div below. I am trying to get the three to line up left to right. Each of the three divs has a javascript inside that randomly displays an image to fill up the div. Does the scripting have anything to do with the problem. In firefox 2.0 the divs stack vertically instead of lining up left to right. It displays exactly the way I want in IE7.0, (I know this means trouble) Also the paragraph that reads "Wing Works is a leading Nantucket Island full service landscape company offering high quality landscape design, construction, and maintenance services." Doesn't have the style applied to it. I am having a problem with specificity, but can't figure out what is wrong. Any help would be really appreciated. [css-d] Div width and paragraph padding problem

[css-d] display problems of "Simple box by Ted" rounded corners
The page in question is at http://www.learnerdesign.com/acufamily/farm.html I am trying to implement the simple box by Ted. It displays fine in Firefox, but in IE it is a bit weird. When the page loads, it looks fine, but if you scroll down the page and then scroll back up, there is a solid block of white that spans where the top left, top, and top right background images were. However, if the mouse rolls over any hyperlinks the screen flashes and the background images reappear. How can I make it so that the background images don't disappear. [css-d] need layout help
Hey all, I thought I had my layout working in all browsers, but the design is problematic in ie5.5, 6.0, 7.o see: http://learnerdesign.com/acufamily/womens.html I am trying to get the div#nav to be on the left and taking up 27% of div#main_body and having div#main_content on the right of the #nav and taking up 73% of the main_body. It displays fine in firefox, and safari 2.0. In IE the main content either slides down, the page, or the #nav covers up #main_content a bit. What is the best way to code/fix this in css? [css-d] gratitude and a discovered trick for equal height columns for two column layout
Hey all, I'm writing in to offer deep gratitude and a late thank you to BJ Clark, Georg, Don Hinshaw and Philippe Wittenbergh for their help with my first CSS site. You can see a preview at www.learnerdesign.com/acufamily/index.html. Browsershots showed me that safari 2.0, the div#main content separates from the navigation menu and moves to the right. Any ideas how I can fix that? Also, what is the easiest way to center the content on the page horizontally? I would appreciate any feedback you have, and if there are any glaring errors, please let me know. I have read a lot of messages about establishing equal height colums using faux columns background images or a variety of padding/margin solutions(adding a huge padding with an equally huge negative margin), or scripting solutions. The padding/ margin solution failed me when I had anchors in a div, the div content became hidden, and shifted up out of its containing div, when the user clicked on the anchor link. A simple solution came to me for a two column layout. Use www.learnerdesign.com/acufamily/faq.html for reference. I gave the containing div, #main_body, for the two divs named #nav and #main_content a background color which would end up being the background color of the shorter div, which is #nav. I then gave the taller div, named #main_content a different background color and Shazzam you have what appear to be equal height columns. This wouldn't work for more complex three column layouts, unless two of the columns shared the same background color, but I thought it would be worth mentioning for people who only need to do a two column layout.
