Re: [css-d] Gap problem in multi layer jello layout
Hi Alan, many thanks for your reply and links to further information. Very interesting, but at least for this problem, using 'padding: 1px', (suggested by David Laasko,) on all of them (#header, #mainmenu, #contents, #footernav, #footer.) seems to work best at least in the browsers I have, seems OK in my Windows Emulator... I would appreciate a check in proper Windows and IE is someone has the time Test website is: http://www.shoesforindustry.net/test/ CSS http://www.shoesforindustry.net/test/css/jellobasetest.css Thanks again, Russ On 22 Mar 2008, at 14:11, Alan Gresley wrote: Hi Russell as a temporary test paste this into your style sheet. #contents, #footernav, #footer { margin-top:-15px !important; margin-bottom:-15px !important; } #header, #mainmenu { margin-top:-20px !important; margin-bottom:-20px !important; } Russ __ css-discuss [EMAIL PROTECTED] http://www.css-discuss.org/mailman/listinfo/css-d List wiki/FAQ -- http://css-discuss.incutio.com/ List policies -- http://css-discuss.org/policies.html Supported by evolt.org -- http://www.evolt.org/help_support_evolt/
[css-d] Gap problem in multi layer jello layout
Does anyone have any idea how to get rid of the gaps between the jello layers? Seen in Firefox and other browsers, in this example it is the body showing through and it is coloured brown. I know it is possible as I've had it working once before, unfortunately an ftp error left me with an empty css file and no backup. I've been tearing my hair out, trying to get this to work again, and trust me I don't have enough! You can sort of get the effect I'm after by adding: border: 1px solid #000 e.g. #header,#mainmenu,#contents,#footernav,#footer { width: 100%; border: 1px solid #000; } Although it seems to have some knock on effects and I have achieved it without doing this. Worse still it was something very simple - I just can't see it. Re: [css-d] New Image Replacement Method
Hi Peter, well they seem to work OK ;-). My only reservation would be if CSS is disabled or not present e.g. mobile phone or pda browsers, where you get the text and the image. However, pretty much all FIR techniques seem to suffer at least one such 'blindspot'. Re: [css-d] Site check and feedback requested
Hi Jean, assuming Firefox on the Mac is correct, Safari looks the same. I can't get Mac IE to open it? It keeps closing, not sure why. It may be something to do with this line: . . . awaken your inner and outer beauty I don't think this is valid ;-) You could use padding-left or margin-left or float-right to move your text around? Opera Mac (9.02) looks fine, as does Netscape Mac (7.2) Hope this helps Russ On 13 Oct 2006, at 5:54, j wrote: > Can Mac users please check this site? > http://www.jeankorte.netfirms.com/index.html Russ __ css-discuss [EMAIL PROTECTED] http://www.css-discuss.org/mailman/listinfo/css-d IE7b2 testing hub -- http://css-discuss.incutio.com/?page=IE7 List wiki/FAQ -- http://css-discuss.incutio.com/ Supported by evolt.org -- http://www.evolt.org/help_support_evolt/

Is this just an IE problem? In which case I can't be of much help. Perhaps z order or something? I'm not much up on drop down menu. [css-d] IE Problem with Position Relative?
If you look at the top menu (red bar - #topmenu) which is styled with some javascript using (Ruzee Borders). You will see that in IE6 the menu loads correctly and then jumps down when you hover over it. I can stop it jumping if I apply 'position absolute' to the .menu_horiz class, but it causes other problems. Is there a better way to do this for IE so it behaves more like Firefox? html: http://www.dp.shoesforindustry.net/home/ css: http://www.dp.shoesforindustry.net/css/screen.css Thanks in advance, Russ __ css-discuss [EMAIL PROTECTED] http://www.css-discuss.org/mailman/listinfo/css-d IE7b2 testing hub -- http://css-discuss.incutio.com/?page=IE7 List wiki/FAQ -- http://css-discuss.incutio.com/ Supported by evolt.org -- http://www.evolt.org/help_support_evolt/

Nothing to do with mac, but some of your images could be made a bit smaller for download without losing too much quality? Re: [css-d] Getting CSS to look good on Mac
"artcoder: problems with IE Mac, http://webmarksonline.com"; Artcoder, I had a look at your site in IE Mac OSX (5.2) and It did not appear to have the problem shown in the images, did you fix it? However it does have a problem with the footer. But, before you go trying to fix that it might be worth getting the htm/xhtml/xml to validate first? Not doing so can be like chasing after the elusive end of the rainbow, always try to fix to styling on valid underlying code :) Running it through webXact also threw up a few more issues you may want to address. Good luck and let me know if you need anymore Mac help.
