[css-d] CSS with flash

2007-10-22 Thread Terry O'Leary
Hi all

Dont shout if this is not a CSS problem but a flash one as i'm a
little unsure. I have a flash banner that is L shaped and i have set
the background to transparent using wmode. The Div is have containing
the text nicely nestles in the bend of the L on IE7 and firefox but
IE6 treats the flash as a block element and buts the text div out,

can anyone suggest something?

example http://www.design-portfolio.co.uk/helius/about/

thanks in advance

[css-d] overflow styling

2007-06-14 Thread Terry O'Leary
HI

I'm currently using a div with overflow:auto; that displays a scrollbar when
the text gets too large, does anyone know if it is possible to style the
scrollbar appearance to blend into the site design? not the browser
scrollbars but the ones in the div overflow. thanks

[css-d] hover technique

2007-05-22 Thread Terry O'Leary
Hi all

I have an ul acting as a menu (so each li in the list is wrapped in
anachor), next to that I have a div containing a jumble of words.

What i'd like to do is when I hover of the list item some text in the jumble
words change color so they stand out of the jumble, any body got a pure css
solution for this, i've included some example code below, i'm thinking some
spans in the jumbled words and some way of changing color on a:hover ?

div id=nav
ul

I'm wanting to produce a menu type affect that when a user rollsover a menu
item an image slide out of the menu (similar to a drop down) I dont want
this image to do anything just slide in and out of view depending o nthe
hovering.

Can anyone suggest a site that has implemented this affect (primarily in
css) but flash or ajax would be fine!

[css-d] IE 5.0

2006-08-14 Thread Terry O'Leary
Hi

Two things to ask today (thanks to people who answered my li:hover
query) , what are peoples opinion on IE 5.0 and the need to consider
its lack of CSS support during designing a site (i.e should i not be
considered now as its kind of obsolete?) and does anyone know a site
apart from browsercam where i could test the site as i have problems
with rollovers i need to be able to interact with the page not just
view a screen shot... or do one of you have access to IE 5.0 and can
you tell me / screen shot the rollover actions on the menu at
www.bulgin.co.uk/HTMLDocs/test.html

Thanks

 Depends on your audience. Generically, I still allow for it because it
 is still used, but its usage is minimal so I guess it's a judgement
 call.

 Why don't you download the standalones? That's what I use for IE5. You
 can get the standalone versions from evolt, and there's a tutorial on
 making them work at positioniseverything.net

 Works great.  And it's free.

[css-d] FF MSIE background image problem

2006-07-26 Thread Terry O'Leary
Hi

I've been working on my company site www.arcolectric.co.uk/index2.html
and have designed it in pure CSS.

I have a background img assigned to the body element with a slight
fade, and a div that contains a background image of the menu bar along
the top, i need the background of the menu bar to line up to the
bodies background.

I've discovered that i have a problem with the mast head being
rendered differently in different browsers. On windows in IE the page
displays perfectly, but in firefox/safari on a mac a top margin of
around 7px appears in the div with the menu bar and so pushes the
alignment of the backgrounds out.

I currently have the following CSS for the menu and the body:

#banner_Distribution{
margin:auto;
margin-top:0px;
width:800px;
height:90px;
padding:0px;
padding-right:2px;
background:url(_images/banner_bg_agents.jpg) 0px 0px no-repeat;
}

body{
margin:0px 0px;
width:100%;
background:url(_images/main_body_bg.jpg) 0px -18px repeat-x;
padding:0px;
}

any one have any ideas, i've noticed if i surround the menu bar with a
border the problem fixes itself and have tried various solutions to no
avail HELP!
