Thanks Georg, I thought I was nuts for a while. I was able to line things up in photoshop, and everything looked normal. I presume the png compression utility I used mucked things up, but it could very well be me. Very much appreciated...cheers! Colin

They are actually created with such a 3px/4px offset, and line up the same in all browsers.
