Perle Goes--Cheney Far Behind?



The first of the leading neo-con manipulators of the Bush Presidency is out, with the forced resignation of Richard Perleâsometime "Prince of Darkness," now under a very bright light of exposure and investigationâfrom the Pentagon's Defense Policy Board which he headed until last year.

Perle's picture can be "X-ed off" in the famous Children of Satan pamphlets which have circulated by the LaRouche campaign in millions of copies and two editions all over the world since May, 2003. Those pamphlets made the epithet "Straussian liars" into a clear image for governments, leading figures, and organizations from Berlin to Moscow to Seoul to Washington, D.C., which showed them what they detested and dreaded about this Cheney-run Presidency.

Let's not diminish the significance of Perle himself, and bringing him to justice. How is this neo-con power broker of Washington and Tel Aviv corrupt? Let us count the ways. For 25 years, Richard Perle has seemed to survive against impossible odds, whenever he was caught in shady business dealings, and webs of intrigue and espionage. Only the most recent:

*ÂIn March 2003, New Yorker published an article by Seymour Hersh which exposed the activities of a Perle company created after 9/11, called Trireme Partners. Other articles reported that Perle was being paid hundreds of thousands of dollars, sometimes millions, for private business deals directly related to the topics he took up and classified access he enjoyed at the DPB.

*Â$20 million from Boeing? To beat Airbus for contracts for the refueling tankers for the U.S. Air Force, Boeing paid millions to Pentagon denizens. Perle got a $20-million investment promise from Boeing for Trireme, and actually received millions. In August 2003, he wrote an op-ed defending the Boeing tanker deal. Some top Boeing executives were fired and forced to resign for possibly bribing the DoD officials.

*ÂPerle got about $7 million from Hollinger International directly, and, indirectly through Hillman PartnersâGreg Hillman is a partner in Trireme and a member of the Defense Policy Boardâup to $17.5 million of the contested payouts that the inner circle of the Conrad Black crowd was dishing out. The Black payouts are being investigated by the U.S. Securities and Exchange Commission.

*ÂPerle and his company sold on "axis of evil" countries to Goldman Sachs, on the topic, "Implications of an Imminent War: Iraq Now, North Korea Next?" Rep. John Conyers asked the DoD to investigate if this was a conflict of interest, but "no conflict" was found, based only on the technicality that Perle did not work for the U.S. government for the required 60 days a year.

*ÂThe bankrupt telecomm giant Global Crossing paid Perle $125,000 to help it overcome Pentagon national-security objections to its being bought up by a Chinese companyâwith a bonus of $600,000 if Perle succeeded. He pulled out of the deal, and "donated the money to charity," when the contract was exposed and a letter to Global Crossing came to light, promoting Perle's influence as a member of the DPB.

*ÂPerle consorted with State Department-listed terrorists, the Mujahideen E-Khalq (MEK) organization, at a Jan. 24 fundraising event. Perle would not say how much he was paid, and said that he didn't know the sponsor was really the MEKâalthough he's a self-described terrorism expert; and although Rep. Bob Ney (R-Oh.) had publically asked the Justice Department to shut down the Jan. 24 event. The Washington Post reported on Jan. 29, "FBI agents attended [the rally] and as part of a continuing investigation, the Treasury Dept. on Monday froze the assets of the event's prime organizer."

*ÂAdd to all that, Perle's role in promoting Ahmed Chalabi and the INC (see story, page 66).

A prototype and major player of the Cheney synarchist circle. Now, the image of the neo-con "Straussian liar" is focussed on Cheney himself, toward whom are leading all the investigations of chicanery, profiteering, and outright lying to Congress and the American citizenry.

The Perle resignation will have repercussions globally. The world knows that LaRouche has made these neo-consâand Cheney the "lead duck in the flight"âhis target, moving Democrats and even parts of the Republican Party against them. If Perle's out, can Cheney be far behind?

invested in anything.  And that's the point ... Bush wants to invest it in 
stocks, bonds, etc., and the scheme was to have the nation's "supreme" discount 
broker, Charles Schwab, handle moving all of that social security money into 
stocks and bonds with Schwab earning the commissions (Condi Rice was on the 
board 1997-2001 and George Shultz is -- and they are under investigation in

I wonder who is in charge of investing the dollars that 
come into the Social Security fund.  What is the fund's 
portfolio?  How can we get a look at what stocks and "private 
companies" our government owns?  What does all this juggling of budgets 
and revenues tell us about The Plan?  It sosunds as though they want to 
eliminate the national government infrastructure so all aspects of 
government can be "privatized" or "outsourced" or provided by contractors, 
i.e. public-private partnership.  If we visualize these partnerships as 
being the same as the charter companies of old, I think we get a better 
picture of what the heir/successors of the "merchant adventurers" are aiming 
to achieve.  They want to control the purse-strings of the government 
in name, as well as in deed.

traditional definition of chutzpah says it's when you murder your parents, 
then plead for clemency because you're an orphan. Alan Greenspan has 
chutzpah.Last week Mr. Greenspan warned of the dangers posed 
by budget deficits. But even though the main cause of deficits is 
plunging revenue — the federal government's tax take is 
now at its lowest level as a share of the economy since 
1950 — he opposes any effort to restore recent revenue 
losses. Instead, he supports the Bush administration's plan to make its tax 
cuts permanent, and calls for cuts in Social Security benefits.Yet 
three years ago Mr. Greenspan urged Congress to cut taxes, warning that 
otherwise the federal government would run excessive surpluses. He assured 
Congress that those tax cuts would not endanger future Social Security 
benefits. And last year he declined to stand in the way of another round of 
deficit-creating tax cuts.But wait — it gets worse.You see, 
although the rest of the government is running huge deficits — and never did 
run much of a surplus — the Social Security system is 
currently taking in much more money than it spends. Thanks to those 
surpluses, the program is fully financed at least through 2042. The cost of 
securing the program's future for many decades after that would be modest — 
a small fraction of the revenue that will be lost if the Bush tax cuts are 
made permanent.And the reason Social Security is in fairly good 
shape is that during the 1980's the Greenspan commission persuaded Congress 
to increase the payroll tax, which supports the program.The payroll 
tax is regressive: it falls much more heavily on middle- and lower-income 
families than it does on the rich. In fact, according to Congressional 
Budget Office estimates, families near the middle of the income distribution 
pay almost twice as much in payroll taxes as in income taxes. Yet people 
were willing to accept a regressive tax increase to sustain Social

Bank of England ordered to release files in

  LONDON - Britain's central bank lost an appeal on Monday to keep 
  sensitive internal documents under wraps in a lawsuit seeking almost 
  £1 billion ($2.7 billion) over its role in the world's biggest banking 
  fraud. 
  England's Court of Appeal ruled that the Bank of England had to 
  release up to 10 files worth of letters between the bank and its 
  lawyers relating to the collapse of Bank of Credit and Commerce 
  International (BCCI) in 1991. 
  Lawyers for Deloitte, BCCI's liquidators, want to use the letters 
  as part of their attempts to prove that the BoE knowingly did not 
  protect BCCI depositors when the bank fraud resulted in the collapse 
  of BCCI with debts of more than US$16 billion ($23 billion). 
  The Bank of England had argued that the letters, which cover 
  approximately the first year following BCCI's collapse, were covered 
  by legal privilege and should be kept under wraps but the Court 
  dismissed that argument. 
  The central bank is considering petitioning the House of Lords, 
  Britain's highest court, to see if it can appeal against the ruling. 
  The first trial brought against the Bank of England, before a judge 
  rather than a jury, kicked off in January and is set to last at least 
  a year. 
  BCCI was closed in 1991 by regulators in a worldwide swoop, partly 
  organised by the Bank of England, after it discovered the lender had 
  disguised losses and was insolvent. 
  Founded in 1972 by Pakistani banker Agha Hassan Abedi, BCCI grew 
  from a small, Asian bank to an empire spanning 69 countries with $20 
  billion of assets.

1) Interviewing Vice President Dick Cheney on Tuesday, CNN's Wolf
Blitzer distorted Federal Reserve Chairman Alan Greenspan's
testimony from last week as he told Cheney that Greenspan warned
that "if you want to keep those tax cuts that you pushed through
Congress, you're going to have to start thinking of reducing
Social Security benefits for the baby boomers." In fact, Greenspan
told a House committee that he favored making the tax cuts
permanent and that Social Security pay outs must be adjusted since
the system is structurally unsustainable due to the soaring number
of retirees compared to the falling number of those paying in, not
because of tax cuts.

2) Walter Cronkite a polygynous gay man? The San Francisco
Chronicle recounted on Tuesday how speaking at the Commonwealth
Club in San Francisco last week, after complaining about how the
Bush foreign policy has "deeply embarrassed" the United States
around the world and castigating the Christian Right as
"obnoxious" for opposing gay marriage, Cronkite joked that though
he's been happily married to a woman, "that doesn't mean I
wouldn't have been happy to be married to several friends I had of
the same sex." Meanwhile, Cronkite is using his credibility to
advance the government spending efforts of a liberal group. The
Hill newspaper last week reported how "the former CBS newscaster
is the narrator on a 13-minute 'informational video' produced by
Families USA, a left leaning healthcare advocacy group."

3) Can you imagine the Today show running a promotional segment
about Rush Limbaugh in 1988, months after he launched his national
show, but when it was only carried by a few stations? That never
happened, but on Tuesday, Today dedicated a 7:30am half hour
segment to a glowing look at liberal talk show host Ed Schultz,
whom Katie Couric claimed is "shaking up the industry,"
though he began a national show, which is not carried in any major
city, barely two months ago. Couric touted him as "the man being
called the liberals' answer to Rush Limbaugh." Jamie Gangel
trumpeted: "Up until now successful talk radio has pretty much
been dominated by conservative hosts. But there's a new guy in
town and people across the country are tuning in."

4) Former NBC News reporter Maria Shriver used her pillow talk
time for some liberal advocacy, pleading against any budget cuts,
her husband, the Governor of California, disclosed on Monday's
Tonight Show with Jay Leno on NBC. Arnold Schwarzenegger recalled
that when he proposed cutting funding for the mentally disabled,
"I got a call from my mother-in-law at midnight and then at two in
the morning my wife reminded me again and at four o'clock in the
morning she reminded me again so I put the program back in."
