Re: [CTRL] Israel Signing NPT Key to Peace in Middle East

-Caveat Lector-

Israel will NEVER give up their nukes. Never. Even if every other country
 in the world did.

No doubt. That is why the Middle East will soon be awash in nukes. Egypt,
Saudi Arabia, Iran, Syria will soon all have nukes. Guess that should make
Israelis feel a lot safer. Quite ridiculous since if any Middle East country
actually used nukes, the fall out would destroy the user as well as the
victim. Eventually they will probably all blow themselves up.

WASHINGTON, D.C.XIt's no secret the FBI let at least two 9-11 hijackersXHazmi and MihdharXslip through its fingers when they landed in California in 2000 and proceeded to live openly under their own names in San Diego before moving into position for the attack. What makes the situation especially ludicrous is that one of these hijackers rented a room from a San Diego landlord who was an FBI informant on the Muslim community.

That's bad enough. But after 9-11, when the Joint Congressional Intelligence Committee found out what had been going on, the FBI refused to allow the informant to be interviewed by the committee staff or to testify.

The FBI actually took steps to hide this man so Congress could not find him. All this is described at some length in former senator Bob Graham's book Intelligence MattersXthe one book on this entire affair written by an actual participant in the behind-the-scenes wheeling and dealing over what was permitted to come into public view about 9-11. Graham was chairman of the joint congressional investigation.

To resolve the informant question, Graham writes, he met with Attorney General John Ashcroft, FBI director Robert Mueller, and other top officials. But when he tried to serve a subpoena on one top FBI official, the man shrank away and would not take the piece of paper. In the end, Graham says, he discovered that the FBI was taking its hard line on the informant on orders from the White House.

Now comes the Justice Department's Office of Inspector General with a lengthy description of the FBI's relationship with the landlord asset. Like the congressional committee, the inspector general did not interview the landlord, but relies on secondhand information gathered from FBI agents. The landlord no longer works for the Bureau. The inspector general reports, "In July 2003 the asset was given a $100,000 payment and closed as an asset."

It is interesting to note that the 9-11 Commission was formed in late 2002. The Joint Congressional Inquiry, which discovered the landlord's existence and sought unsuccessfully to question him, issued its final report July 24, 2003.

Bush's last quacks
Bush might look like a lame duck, but it would be foolish to underestimate a president's power in the midst of war. His veto power is formidable. And this president is in the unique position to institutionalize conservative rule by appointing as many as three Supreme Court justices. Places where this lame duck can still do some damage:

BOLTON: Insisting that John Bolton's nomination as U.N. ambassador is still alive, Bush in a recent press conference slammed the Dems for their blocking tactics. Hill Republicans are split. Fire is going out of the debate, and Bolton still might well slide through.

UNITED NATIONS: Bolton is Bush's gift to conservatives who want to dump the U.N. But the oil-for-food scandals are an unexpected GOP political plus, showing the U.N. to be corrupt, badly in need of reform and new leadership. And now comes news that the U.N.'s International Atomic Energy Agency had secret how-to-make-a-bomb files stolen, again making the U.N. look incompetent and even dangerous.

JUDGES: In the face-saving deal with Democrats, Bush got three judges through, including Janice Brown,

Defying Bush again, US House votes to curb surveillance

1 hour, 12 minutes ago

The US House of Representatives has rebelled against President George W. Bush
for a second time in just three weeks by voting to shield libraries and
bookstores
from government investigators trying to collect information on terrorism
suspects.

By a vote of 238-187, the chamber on Wednesday approved an amendment to a bill
funding the Justice Department that prohibits it from using a section of the
USA
Patriot Act enabling agents to gain access to customer reading records from US
libraries and bookstore.

The vote in defiance of a presidential veto threat, followed last month's
passage of
legislation allowing new federal funding for embryonic stem cell research, also
in
spite of Bush's repeated threats to veto it.

Enacted barely six weeks after the September 11, 2001, terrorist attacks on New
York and Washington, the USA Patriot Act is seen by the Bush administration as
a
key legal tool in the war on terror.

It gives the Federal Bureau of Investigation and other US law enforcement
agencies
greater search and surveillance powers by streamlining procedures and
eliminating
red tape. But critics have charged that the law threatens to undermine key
civil
liberties by making Americans more vulnerable to government intrusion.

Section 215 of the act has drawn particularly strong fire because it has
empowered
federal agents to access the reading records of Americans in both libraries and
bookstores after securing an order from a secret court.

A similar amendment to protect US readers, offered by independent Congressman
Bernie Sanders last year, failed to pass by just one vote.

But on Wednesday, the pendulum clearly swung in his favor as 38 Republicans
joined most of the Democrats in a bid to remedy the situation.

The passage of this amendment helps reign in an administration intent on
chipping
away at the very civil liberties that define us as a nation, an elated Sanders
said in a
statement.

We must do all we can to protect Americans from terrorism, but we must do it
in a
way that does not undermine the basic constitutional rights that makes us a
free
country, he added.

The amendment passed just one day after the White House publicly threatened to
veto the whole bill that funds the Justice, State and Commerce Departments, if
the
Sanders measure ever saw the light of day.

If any amendment that would weaken the USA Patriot Act were included in a bill
presented to the president for his signature, the presidents senior advisors
would
recommend a veto, the White House's Office of Management and Budget warned in
a terse statement.

But most House members appeared not in the mood for compromises.

House Democratic Minority Leader Nancy Pelosi said that when Congress voted for
the Patriot Act in late 2001, members were confident it would be accompanied by
strong Congressional oversight.

That oversight has not occurred effectively, stated Pelosi.

Representative Ron Paul (news, bio, voting record), one of two Republican co-
sponsors of the amendment, made clear he was wary of the Patriot Act because it
promoted big government, an anathema for many traditional conservatives like
himself.

We must understand that politicians and bureaucrats always seek to expand
their
power, without regard to the long-term consequences, he cautioned.

The vote put a big question mark on the administration's efforts to
re-authorize the
Patriot Act, key portions of which will automatically expire at the end of this
year.

In addition to keeping its existing powers, the FBI has been

'Ice-pick that killed Trotsky' found in Mexico
http://www.guardian.co.uk/russia/article/0,2763,1507575,00.html
Jo Tuckman in Mexico City
Thursday June 16, 2005
The Guardian

One of the most notorious murder weapons in modern history, the ice-pick that
killed
Leon Trotsky, appears to have been found, 65 years after it was apparently
stolen
from the Mexican police.

The daughter of a former secret service agent claims she has the steel
mountaineering instrument, which is stained with the blood of the Russian
revolutionary.

Exiled by Joseph Stalin, Trotsky lived a relatively settled life in a leafy
suburb of
Mexico City until his death in 1940.

Article continues
Trotsky was always fearful of assassination attempts organised by Stalin. He
was
finally caught off guard by Ramon Mercader, who on August 20 1940 got access to
him on the pretext of needing help.

Once in the study, Mercader struck the creator of the Red Army in the head from
behind with the shortened pick he had hidden under his clothes.

Murderer and ice-pick were taken into custody but the weapon later disappeared.

Now Ana Alicia Salas says her father, Commander Alfredo Salas, stole the pick
because he wanted to preserve it for posterity.

Trotsky's grandson Seva Volkov, who lived with his grandfather at the time and
still
lives in Mexico, is willing to provide samples for a DNA test against the blood
on the
handle only if Salas donates the pick to the museum in the house where the
murder
took place.

But she said: I am looking for some financial benefit. I think something as
historically
important at this should be worth something, no?~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~

The State as Idol...

?Chun gnomharhta drise bh s
sin chomh claontaIs gur achtaigh s gurbh ionann dlthe is miantaD?fhonn
is gur lide nire a crsa.? ~ Daint Ailgir,
Ifreann, Dan V: 55-57.?an interesting article
from Stephen Hand of Traditional Catholic Reflections
Reports:?It was a
sorry day when Julius Caesar proved victorious at the battle of Munda, near the
city of Osuna, Spain, which took place on March 17, 45 BC. For Caesar was, from
then on, considered invincible by the plebs of Rome. In fact it was shortly
thereafter decreed that at all public games an ivory statue of Caesar inscribed
?to the invincible god? should be carried with all religious
idols.?Some might
readily dismiss me as ?librul? and that certainly is easier and less frightening
than seriously responding to any of my queries. However, Stephen cannot be so
easily dismissed. The article, in chronicling the deification of Csar states, ?This was
something new.?With that, we may readily absolve the Romans who idolised
Julius Csar. They hadn?t our history, both religious and secular, behind
them.We might also want to go easy on the Germans and the Soviets. While
Hitler and Stalin were profoundly evil and wicked men, they were also quite
clever and intelligent. And, their people were hungry. Our idol, on the
other hand, is certainly not the brightest porch
light on the block. And, we
are well fed.History will judge us. Severely so.?The supreme religious deception is that of
the Antichrist, a pseudo-messianism by which man glorifies himself in place of God and of his Messiah come
in the flesh. The Antichrist's deception already begins to take shape in the
world every time the claim is made to realize within history that messianic hope
which can only be realized beyond history through the eschatological judgment.
The Church has rejected even modified forms of this falsification of the kingdom
to come under the name of millenarianism, especially the ?intrinsically
perverse? political form of a secular
messianism.?

False Dawn

As I mentioned earlier, Lee Penn first alerted me to the then
impending spectacle in
Washington, D.C.It went on as scheduled, but not without hearing from
those of us who refuse to
salute Caligula?s horse.If you haven?t read
Lee?s article, ?When the State Becomes
God?, I highly recommend that you do so?and send it
on to someone else to read. The deification of the
state is nothing new. Father Alexander Men, a
martyred Christian thinker of our own time, vividly explained how the
Cult of Stalin was
established in the Soviet Union, and how it
took on pronounced religious and cultic attributes. In writing of the
Germany of Benedict XVI?s youth, John Allen explained how churches were co-opted
and taught Hitlerian fascism as
their new Gospel. All too often, this happens with the collaboration and
even encouragement from those who ought to be elders and shepherds of the
churches, as we now see this happening today in our own country. Some even hold
it as an Article of Faith that Almighty God used the Supreme Court to trump the
popular election to anoint George W. Bush as the new President. We even
see how his claims to Divine Mediumship are
unchallenged.Thankfully, we now see the first stirrings of resistance to
attempts at enshrining the Bushling in their churches, seminaries and even
at a Catholic communion
breakfast.Lee Penn has been observing these
and similar modern trends with a keen eye. Recently, he announced his latest
opus:?My new book, False
Dawn (about the United Religions
Initiative, the New Age movement, and globalism), is now in print and available
for purchase. It is 508 pages long (including the bibliography and the index),
and contains a great deal of new information and analysis that has not been
published anywhere before.
The book is an
extended challenge to those who would impose what the Pope has called a
?dictatorship of relativism.?"As you can see from
the aforementioned article, Lee is a thorough researcher and a riveting writer.
His book can be ordered through the link provided.

The interfaith movement, which began with the 1893 World?s Parliament of
Religions in Chicago, has grown worldwide. Although this movement has been
largely unknown to the public, it now provides a spiritual face for
globalization, the economic and political forces leading us all from nationalism
to ?One World?.
The most ambitious organization in today?s interfaith movement is the United
Religions Initiative (URI), founded by William Swing, the Episcopal Bishop of
California. Investigative reporter Lee Penn, a Catholic ex-Marxist, exhaustively
documents the history and beliefs of the URI and its New Age and globalist
allies, the vested interests that support these movements, and the direction
they appear to be taking. The interfaith movement is no longer merely the
province of a coterie of little-heeded religious idealists with grandiose
visions. The URI?s proponents have ranged from billionaire George Soros to
President George W. Bush, from the far-right Rev. Sun Myung Moon to the liberal
Catholic theologian Hans Kng, and from the Dalai Lama to the leaders of
government-approved Protestant churches in the People?s Republic of China.
The interfaith movement, including the URI, is being promoted by globalist
and New Age reformers who favor erosion of national sovereignty, marginalization
of traditional religions, establishment of ?global governance?, and creation of

What to Say to Jack and Jim?

By Russell Mokhiber and Robert Weissman

We were in an empty West Virginia courtroom last night with two young
boys -- let's call them Jack and Jim -- ages 10 and 8.

Time for homeschooling -- Justice 101.

Let's say Jack that you go into Jim's candystore and steal a chocolate bar.

Jim calls the police.

The prosecutor charges Jack with theft.

Jack will be charged and brought to trial in this courtroom.

The prosecutor will sit at this table over here.

What's this over here?

This is the witness stand.

The prosecutor will call Jim as a witness.

Jim will testify that Jack stole the candy bar.

Over in this box sit 12 of Jack's fellow citizens.

They will hear the evidence.

Behind this bench over here sits the judge.

The judge will determine what evidence gets to the jury.

After the jury hears the evidence, they will walk back into this room,
close the door, and decide whether Jack is guilty or not.

After reaching a verdict, the jurors will file back into the jury box
and tell the judge of their decision.

If the verdict is guilty, the judge will hand down his sentence.

Jack will go to jail.

His reputation will be in tatters.

His life destroyed.

No more play group.

No more swimming in the creek.

No more candy bars.

That was last night's lesson.

This morning, we awake to a front-page Wall Street Journal article
reporting that KPMG -- one of the nation's big four accounting firms --
is facing criminal charges for the aggressive marketing of abusive tax
shelters that cost the federal government $1.4 billion in lost revenue.

A November 2003 Senate report found that KPMG devoted substantial
resources to and obtained significant fees from potentially abusive
and illegal tax shelters costing the U.S. Treasury billions.

According to the Journal, last year, the Internal Revenue Service told a
federal court that KPMG falsely asserts that it has never developed,
sold or promoted a tax shelter and that KPMG tried for years to delay
or conceal evidence behind sometimes false claims of legal privilege.

Here's the first sentence from the article, written by Journal reporter
John R. Wilke:

Federal prosecutors have built a criminal case against KPMG LLP for
obstruction of justice and the sale of abusive tax shelters, igniting a
debate among top Justice Department officials over whether to seek an
indictment -- at the risk of killing one of the four remaining big
accounting firms.

KPMG issued a statement yesterday saying that it takes full
responsibility for the unlawful conduct by former KPMG partners during
the period under investigation by the Justice Department. KPMG said it
has taken actions to ensure that this type of conduct does not occur
again, including firm-wide structural, cultural and governance reforms.

In the wake of the criminal prosecution of Arthur Andersen, which drove
the accounting firm out of business, federal prosecutors increasingly
have shied away from criminally prosecuting big firms.

Increasingly, federal prosecutors look to what impact a criminal
prosecution will have on the firm.

First came the deferred prosecution agreement -- that's where
prosecutors file an indictment on the condition that the company behave
itself for a period of years, usually two.

If things are in order after two years, the indictment is dropped.

Slate wiped clean.

No record of indictment.

No conviction.

Then came the no prosecution agreement -- prosecutors agree not to bring
an indictment on the condition that the company change the way it does
business.

With the Supreme Court's reversal of the Andersen conviction, combined
with a number of high-profile white-collar crime not guilty verdicts,
prosecutors find themselves on the defensive.

As a result, increasingly, corporations are being deemed -- too big

Will the CIA let Posada spill the beans on all their dirty tricks in Latin
America?

The New Agenda's Charley Allan writes: We are going to hit a Cuban
airplane, said Luis Posada in Caracas, Venezuela, according to a recently
declassified CIA document. On October 6 1976, just days later, Cubana
Airline flight 455 exploded off the coast of Barbados, killing all 73
passengers.

Posada, who is 77 and has dual Venezuelan and Cuban citizenship, was
arrested in Miami on May 17 for illegal entry into the US. He is claiming
asylum and, so far, the Bush administration has refused to extradite him to
Venezuela, where he is wanted for the terrorist bombing.

Until 1974, the ex-CIA agent, who specialized in explosives at the infamous
School of the Americas in Georgia, was head of the Venezuelan political
police -- DISIP -- from where he, reportedly, oversaw the assassination of
prominent leftists.

Venezuelan President Hugo Chavez has threatened to sever diplomatic links if
Posada is not turned over, which the US is obliged to do under bilateral
treaties. He has accused the US of harboring a known international
terrorist, making a mockery of its ?war on terror.?

?We demand that the US government stop its hypocrisy and its two-faced
attitude and send this terrorist, this bandit, to Venezuela,? Chavez
insisted last month. ?The world is watching.?
This case has become a major headache for George Bush, who is loth to give
up such a loyal veteran of the right-wing cause.

Posada is hailed as a hero among Miami?s rich, Castro-hating Cuban exiles,
who form a key component of his base of support, as well as that of Bush?s
brother Jeb, the governor of Florida.
A policeman in the Batista dictatorship, Posada also participated in the Bay
of Pigs invasion as part of ?Operation 40.? Their mission was simply to
assassinate Castro.

He also freelanced for the Las Vegas mafia, at one point, supplying mob boss
Frank ?Lefty? Rosenthal with detonators and fuses for car-bombs, according
to the FBI.

Two Argentinean founders of the Mothers of Plaza de Mayo, a movement which
supports parents of missing or tortured people in south America, are also
demanding Posada?s extradition. They accuse him of involvement in Operation
Condor, the US military plan which coordinated the bloodthirsty
dictatorships of the 1970s in the region.

After bribing his way out of Venezuelan jail in 1985, he worked for Oliver
North, directing terror against the people of Nicaragua, supplying the
US-backed Contras with weapons in an illegal war against the Sandinista
government.

The main focus throughout his life, however, seems to be an obsession with
overthrowing Fidel Castro.

Posada masterminded a string of bombings in Havana during an international
youth and student festival in 1997, resulting in the death of an Italian
tourist at the Copacabana hotel.
?We didn?t want to hurt anybody,? he claimed in an interview with the New
York Times the following year. ?We just wanted to make a big scandal so that
the tourists don?t come any more.?
?I sleep like a baby,? he famously boasted, showing little remorse for the
misery he caused. ?That Italian was sitting in the wrong place at the wrong
time.?

In 2000, he was caught red-handed in Panama, preparing to assassinate Castro
by blowing up a packed auditorium of over 3,000 students with 33 pounds of
C-4 explosives. Although found guilty, he was pardoned in 2004 by outgoing
President Mireya Moscoso, who promptly moved to Miami.
Reports that he was back in the US began surfacing earlier this year, but
the government denied any knowledge of his whereabouts. However, after
Posada held a press conference in Miami, this illusion was impossible to
sustain and it was forced to act.

opinion..."
http://www.chroniclesmagazine.org/cgi-bin/newsviews.cgi/Russia/2005/06/14/Dmitry_Rogozin__Rus

Tuesday, June 14,
2005
Dmitry Rogozin: Russias Man of the
Future? The 5th congress of the Rodina (Motherland) party was held in Moscow on June 11. Some 1,000 delegates and
guests heard the leader of this rising Russian political force, Dmitry Olegovich
Rogozin, deliver the rousing keynote addressTo Slay a Dragonin which he
offered the Russian equivalent of a Buchananite political, economic, and
national program. Having followed his
career with some interest over the past decade, I believe that Rogozin has now
matured into a serious contender for Russias presidency in 2008.
Rogozin accused Putins Prime Minister Mikhail Fradkov and the Kremlins
economic liberals of corruption, of being insufficiently resolute in dealing
with the hated oligarchs, and of economic incompetence. A social government
should represent the interests of the majority of the peopleand the majority is
against those in power, Rogozin declared. If the president pursued the same policy, we would say no
to him, too.
Seeking to pre-empt those Russians hoping to repeat
the scenario of Ukraines stage-managed orange revolution in the streets of
Moscow, Rogozin claimed any such regime change would be ginger in coloran obvious allusion to the hair color of Anatoly Chubais, the hugely unpopular
pro-Western, reformist liberal.
James George Jatras, a Washington D.C.-based
attorney and occasional Chronicles contributor, was for many years a senior
policy analyst with the U.S. Senate Republican Leadership. He was in Moscow last
weekend as a guest at the Rodina congress. In his opinion,

No one should take lightly Dmitriy Olegovich
Rogozins prospects for becoming the next president of Russia. To start with,
as a politician, he is an extremely attractive and personable candidate. His
manner in private is indistinguishable from his appeal to a mass audience,
connecting in both contexts as genuine and capable. More importantly, as a
statesman, his political persona seems to have real substance behind it. Mr.
Rogozin has his hand on the pulse of a broad segment of the Russian
population, which, while not wishing to see a return of Marxist-Leninist
ideology, are thoroughly disgusted with democracy and the free market as
they have been marketed in debased form in Russia since the collapse of the
  Soviet system.
Rodinas leftward economic platform should be taken
less as an endorsement of dogmatic Soviet collectivism, says Jatras, than a
rejection of the oligarchs looting of Russias national patrimony and the
sink-or-swim economic Hobbesianism into which most Russians were plunged without
benefit of either property or legal protection.
Rogozin and his party take great pains to insist
that their Russian patriotic appeal is not chauvinist nor even nationalist,
and that respect for the identities and traditions of all of Russias many
ethnic groups is itself part of what makes Russia what it is. The fact the most
of the partys leadershipincluding Rogozin himself and a large portion of the
Partys public followingare practicing Orthodox Christians, Jatras sees as
conclusive evidence that Rodina is not a throwback to communism:

At the same time, Mr. Rogozins and Rodinas
desire to see the restoration of a strong Russian national state, and his
seeking common ground with both Europe and China, points to a troublesome
potential development for proponents of U.S.-led benevolent global hegemony
and architects of the so-called color revolutions that are progressively
transforming Russias strategic space into one dominated by Washington.

Following successful U.S- Soros-supported efforts
in Georgia in 2003 and Ukraine in 2004, speculation is rife as to who is next,
with the leading guesses being Belarus and Kazakhstan. Most observers believe
Belarus will be a tough nut to crack, however, with the Lukashenko government
having imposed severe restrictions on the NGOs that serve as the essential
transmission belts for mobilization of the pro-Western, reformist, democratic
forces. Kazakhstan seemed to be a more likely bet for the next upheaval, with
President Nazerbayevs government having been relatively open to outside
influences. In early June, however, the Kazakh parliamentwith an eye to events
in Kyrgystan and Uzbekistan, and their own upcoming presidential election in
2006enacted tight new restrictions on foreign-funded organizations.
In foreign affairs Rogozin laments Russias
effective abdication of its status as a great power in the post-communist period
as dangerous not only for Russia but

Ifbigotry is more important than your life and health, what does
  that say about you?

  The REALITY is:

The Jews will NEVER AGAIN allow their destruction to be costless. You
  NEED TO GET THIS POINT!
The Arabs will never allow an infidel state to exist in their back yard.
  Allah wills it.
There will not be a voluntary peace. The Palestinians will not allow it.
They forced Arafat to decline Oslo.

There can ONLY be an imposed peace through militaryvictory by one
  side or the other.
  If the
Arabs win, everybody on the planet loses. Especially the people of the
Middle East. They will be dead.
Israelis, Palestinians, Christians, tourists, and probably 20 to 40
  million Arabs/Muslims from North
  Africa to Pakistan.

If the Israelis win, the Palestinians will be finished as a political
entity. They will not get a state. They
will most likely be expelled from the area.

The Israelis will impose peace on the region for at least a generation or
  two.

This is what is at stake.
THIS IS THE UNDERLYING REALITY OF THE MIDDLE EAST.

Israel will NEVER give up their nukes. Never. Even if every other
country
  in the world did.

No doubt. That is why the Middle East will soon be awash in nukes. Egypt,
Saudi Arabia, Iran, Syria will soon all have nukes.

No they will not. Israel will not allow it.Watch what happens to Iran.

Guess that should make
Israelis feel a lot safer. Quite ridiculous since if any Middle East
country
actually used nukes, the fall out would destroy the user as well as the
victim. Eventually they will probably all blow themselves up.
 flw

Maybe yes, maybe no. But it's not just about them.
A nuke war in the Mid East will DEFINITELY effect you.
No oil, and plenty of fallout for you to enjoy.

Have a nice day.

Instead of a State Department office to monitor anti-Semitism around the
world, how about a State Department office to monitor persecution of
dissidents and anti NWO/pro-freedom activists/researchers around the world -
let's protect the real endangered species here, noble ones...you!

You're an idiot. Nobody cares what you

You don't have a clue. You and anti NWO/pro-freedom activists/researchers
around the world -
serve their purposes beautifully. You turn good information into shit
with your
foolishness.
Nobody has helped cover up 911 more than the idiotic 911"Truth/Skeptic"

Guess what, bad things happen. No doubt the end result of the US's stupid
Middle East policy. Unfortunately seems to be inevitable. But at least it
will one less problem area of the world. Might not be a bad trade off.
