Subject: [JBirch] PBS to Air Biased Domestic Violence and Child Custody Film

The letter below was written by father's rights activist Teri Stoddard in
response to PBS' intended showing of a biased film on domestic violence and
child custody.

There are many other great articles to read at her blog below.

http://blogcritics.org/archives/2005/10/13/051045.php

The following is my letter to Pat Mitchell, President of PBS, regarding the
planned showing of a film on domestic violence and child custody.
Dear Pat,
I was shocked, then disappointed to hear, My dad doesn't love me, right at
the beginning of the promo for Breaking The Silence, the Children's Stories.
You say Breaking The Silence, the Children's Stories is about Domestic
Violence. That includes child abuse. Since mothers commit most child abuse,
are any of the stories about mothers? Many cases of domestic violence
involve co-combatants, but men are prosecuted far more than women. I fear
every case you expose in this film will be of a man who abuses his wife and
kids. I wonder, do you even mention female abusers?
It is not right to air this film without telling the whole story.
PBS meant HONESTY to me. It has always meant TRUTH. Guess what, not anymore.
This film is likely political propaganda to counter the swelling family
rights movement that is championing the cause of joint custody. Research has
shown that co-parenting is good for children, 85% of the population supports
equal shared parenting, and those who are in power now don't want to give it
up. What better way to protect their place than to put fear in the hearts of
voters? Representatives of N.O.W. and the domestic violence industry used
false statistics when they testified against AB 1307 in Sacramento recently.
It worked that day, why not keep misleading people?
As far as PAS, I don't care what you call it, the truth is many noncustodial
parents, usually fathers but sometimes mothers, are alienated by the
custodial parent and the family court system. I'm sure everyone reading this
knows of someone this has happened to. Come to think of it, maybe they don't
realize how common it is. Men don't usually speak of heartache. THIS is the
world's dirty little secret.
Even if this film was made with the best of intentions, it still shouldn't
be shown.
You owe it to your viewers to tell the WHOLE truth.

Teri,
My comments are more directed at the fatehrs' rights movement in general
than to your comment in particular.

First, I support 100% a presumption for joint custody, and I am always
pleased to see fathers wanting to take responsability for their children.
That said, while I genrally support the things that the Fathers' rights
movement wants, I am deeply offended by its tendancy to minimize violence
against women and to blame women for the breakdown of families.

Feminists and fathers who want custody should be on the same side. We both
want to break down the traditional gender role stereotype that says fathers
are bread winners only and women are the naturally nurturing ones that
should care for the children.

But you're not going to win over feminists by blaming women or suggesting
that we're overblowing domestic violence committed against women.

I'm sorry, but men ARE more likely to abandon their children than women. Men
DO abuse women more than women abuse men. In fact, if a woman is murdered,
her killer is more likely to be her domestic partner than any other person.
These things weren't invented by feminsits to make men feel bad, and they
should be taken very seriously.

CONFESSIONS OF A GLOBALIST

BILDERBERGER ADMITS INFLUENCE ON WORLD DECISIONS

By James P. Tucker Jr.

http://www.americanfreepress.net/html/confessions_of_a_globalist.html

http://prisonplanet.com/articles/october2005/131005confessions.htm

More and more European news outlets are bucking the ban on exposing the shadowy
globalist group known as Bilderberg and reporting in depth on this secret
gathering of kingmakers and power elites.

While Bilderberg?s top man insists that it is just a good old boys club,
another Bilderberg participant readily admits it holds influence in global
decisionmaking, BBC News reports from London.

?Will Hutton, an economic analyst and former newspaper editor who attended a
Bilderberg meeting in 1997, says people take part in these networks in order to
influence the way the world works, to create what he calls ?the international
common sense? about policy,? BBC said.

?On every issue that might influence your business you will hear first hand the
people who are actually making those decisions and you will play a part in
helping them make those decisions and formulating the common sense,? BBC quotes
Hutton.

?And that ?common sense? is one which supports the interests of Bilderberg?s
main participants?in particular free trade,? BBC told listeners, who number in
the millions.

?Viscount Davignon says that at the annual meetings, ?automatically around the
table you have internationalists??people who support the work of the World
Trade Organization, transatlantic cooperation and European integration.?

Viscount Etienne Davignon, 73, is chairman of Bilderberg and a former European
commissioner. Today, Davignon is a wealthy banker and is known as the public
face behind the unification of Europe under one currency, the euro.

BBC?s Bill Hayton interviewed him at his office in Brussels. Hayton correctly
called it an ?extremely rare interview.?

?I don?t think [we are] a global ruling class because I don?t think a global
ruling class exists,? Davignon told BBC listeners. ?I simply think it?s people
who have influence interested to speak to other people who have influence.?

Davignon said ?business influences society and politics influences
society?that?s purely common sense. It?s not that business contests the right
of democratically elected leaders to lead.?

?For Bilderberg critics the fact that there is almost no publicity about the
annual meetings is proof they are up to no good,? BBC?s Hayton said on air.
?Jim Tucker, [senior] editor of . . . American Free Press, for example, alleges
they organize wars and elect and depose political leaders. He describes the
group as simply ?evil.? So where does the truth lie??

Bilderberg meetings ?often feature future political leaders shortly before they
become household names,? Hayton said. ?Bill Clinton went in 1991, while still
governor of Arkansas. Tony Blair was there two years later while still an
opposition member of Parliament. All the recent presidents of the European
Commission attended Bilderberg meetings before they were appointed.?

BBC did not mention that Blair also attended in 1998 as prime minister.

NO ACCIDENT

Davignon explained that Bilderberg?s steering committee ?does its best
assessment of who are the bright new boys or girls in the beginning phase of
their career who would like to get known. . . . It?s not a total accident.?

?Professor Kees van der Piji of Sussex University in Britain says such private
networks of corporate and political leaders play an informal but crucial role
in the modern world,? Hayton said. He quotes the professor:

? ?There need to be places where these people can think about the main
challenges ahead, coordinate where policies should be going, and find out where
there could be a consensus.? ?

This benign image of Bilderberg, however, denies reality. A simple glance at
the secret roster of attendees shows it is composed

Time to tap more of Alaska for U.S. oil needs

Tony Phyrillas

With gas prices hovering around $3 per gallon and millions of Americans
facing the bleak prospect of heating their homes this winter, its time to
revisit the decision not to drill for oil in the frozen wasteland of
Alaska.

Although the Bush administration has been pushing for congressional
approval to open the Arctic National Wildlife Refuge to oil and gas
exploration for five years, Democrats repeatedly have blocked the
presidents energy initiatives.

We now see the fruits of the Democrats obstructionist policies
skyrocketing energy prices that threaten to sink the U.S. economy into
recession. Its time to stop pampering environmentalists and the Adopt A
Caribou Foundation and start thinking about whats best for our economy and
our people.

The damage caused by Hurricane Katrina to Americas oil production
capabilities in the Gulf of Mexico, coupled with the ongoing extortion
directed at the U.S. by the Organization of Petroleum Exporting Countries
leaves us no choice but to fend for ourselves to meet our nations energy
needs. How much longer do we want to be at the mercy of OPEC, which
consists of nine Muslim countries and Venezuela, which is run by a
crackpot dictator.

We need to take advantage of all our resources, including opening more of
Alaska to oil and gas exploration. A quarter of the nations oil supply
already comes from Alaska, primarily from Prudhoe Bay, home of the largest
oil fields in North America.

The adjacent ANWR region has the potential to become Americas largest oil
reserve and would go a long way to reducing our dependence on foreign oil.
And the best thing of all is that we would set the price for a barrel of
oil not OPECs oil ministers.

Had the Clinton administration, which did nothing in eight years to
improve this countrys energy supply, had the foresight to push for
drilling in Alaska, oil could be flowing from the ANWR region today.
Experts say it will take at least eight to 10 years to bring oil
production in ANWR online. We dont have time to lose.

So next time you pay $50 at the pump to fill up your car, you can thank
Bill and Hillary Clinton and their environmental guru, Al Gore, for
neglecting the nations energy needs so they could count on the support of
environmental extremists at the polls.

You can also thank Ted Kennedy, John Kerry and Sen. Hillary Clinton for
bottling up the Bush energy plan for the past five years. What is the
Democrats energy policy? They dont have one other than opposing anything
President Bush proposes.

The left-wing propaganda machine and its comrades in the liberal media
have put out all sorts of deceptive information regarding drilling in the
ANWR region all designed to scare people into supporting the Democrats
do-nothing strategy.

Heres all you need to know about expanding oil drilling in Alaska:

Of the nearly 19 million acres of the ANWR region, only 1.5 million or
about 8 percent would be subject to exploration. The other 92 percent
wont be touched, giving caribou, polar bears and other wildlife plenty of
room to roam.

If oil is found in abundance, which is what geologists predict, the U.S.
treasury would receive billions of dollars in revenue money that we now
send to keep all those Arab sheiks living in the lap of luxury.

Oil exploration and eventual drilling in Alaska would create hundreds of
thousands of new jobs.

And for the Cindy Sheehan crowd (the ones who believe we liberated Iraq
to get its oil), we wouldnt have to invade any more Middle Eastern
countries for the oil because wed have plenty of it from domestic sources.

The United States has been pumping oil out of Alaska for decades without
any negative consequences. Prudhoe Bay is one of the safest facilities
anywhere in the world. Its also an area where technology and wildlife have
co-existed for decades. The Trans-Alaska Oil Pipeline that runs the length
of the state has operated since the mid-1970s without any major problems.

Its time to end the appeasement of the Chicken Little environmentalists
and do whats best for this country. The United States has not built a new
oil or gas refinery since 1976 thanks to the hysterical environmentalists
and their Democratic allies in Congress.

We cant allow fringe groups to dictate energy policy at the expense of
whats best for the majority of Americans who want a reliable, affordable
source of energy. Oil and natural gas from the ANWR region would provide
just that.

Write to your congressman today and demand that he or she support
additional oil exploration in Alaska.

By Jean Guccione and Doug Smith - Times Staff Writers 101/3/05 "The clergy sexual abuse scandal reached far more broadly across the Los Angeles Archdiocese — and put far more children at risk — than has previously been known, according to a Times study that examined the records of hundreds of accused priests. Although the sexual abuse scandal has been the subject of more than 560 court claims and a report by the archdiocese, basic information on the dimensions of the problem have remained sketchy. The Times analysis is the first to quantify the breadth of the scandal in the archdiocese. Molestations have been alleged at roughly 100 parishes. Harold Pinter takes on Nato

One of the UK's most important playwrights, Harold
Pinter has challenged audiences around the world since
his play The Birthday Party first hit London in 1958.
He has become increasingly outspoken about the issues
of the day and now talks to BBC HARDtalk about his
current concerns over the Kosovo crisis.

This Nato action is not only illegal, immoral, and
also crazy and infantile, it will achieve absolutely
  nothing, says Harold Pinter.

The playwright, who describes himself as a bit of an
old warrior, has been speaking out on human rights
issues since the overthrow of Chile's President
Allende back in the 1970s, and how he is standing his
ground over the crisis in the Balkans.

Angry at Nato's intervention, Pinter claims the
plight of the Kosovo people is irrelevant to the US
  and the UK.

Instead he says the two nations are more interested in
domination and assertion of power, and are pursuing
a course which will only agravate the misery and the
  horror and devastate the country.

Such outspoken views have seen Pinter attacked by the
British press, but he remains determined to have his
  say.

I live in a very hostile press world because I speak
my mind, he says. The tradition for artists in
Britain is to shut up and write.

But Pinter feels that as British citizen he has an
obligation to speak out about the bombing, Not as

The playwright Harold Pinter told an anti-war

because of Nato's bombing of Yugoslavia.

At the gathering of more than 6,000 marchers in a park
next to the Imperial War Museum in London on Saturday,
he described the current peace talks as a sham, and
claimed that the war had been totally unwarranted.

Standing in the shadow of the two l5 inch naval guns

'I am sure those people here today who voted the

deep sense of shame, the shame of being British.

'Little did we think two years ago that we had elected
a government which would take a leading role in what
is essentially a criminal act, showing total contempt
for the United Nations and international law.

Pinter said Britain's leaders had been engaging in
despicable hypocrisy, and he contrasted Tony Blair's

These clusterbombs cut children to pieces and this is
an act which takes place 15,000ft 'under 'those brave

  Christianity applauds, Pinter said.

Let us face the truth. The truth is that neither
Clinton nor Blair gives a damn about the Kosovar
Albanians. This action has been yet another blatant
and brutal assertion of US power using Nato as its

FBI: Albanian mobsters 'new Mafia'

From Justice Producer Terry FriedenWednesday, August 18, 2004
Posted: 10:06 PM EDT (0206 GMT)

WASHINGTON
(CNN) -- Thousands of Albanians and others who fled the Balkans for the United
States in recent years have emerged as a serious organized crime problem,
threatening to displace La Cosa Nostra (LCN)
families as kingpins of U.S. crime, top FBI
officials said Wednesday.

The Albanian criminal enterprises, operating largely in New York and other
Eastern seaboard cities, represent a major challenge to federal agents because
of their propensity for violence and brutality, the officials said.

"They are a hardened group, operating with reckless abandon," said Chris
Swecker, the newly named FBI assistant
director for the Criminal Investigative Division.

Swecker and other officials said some
of the Albanians served as enforcers in the established Mafia families for
several years.

When the FBI dealt a major blow to the LCN families in recent years, the Albanians began to emerge, and
now are taking over turf once controlled by the traditional mob bosses.
Officials said ethnic Albanians from Kosovo, Macedonia and Montenegro are included in the clans and crews that emerged in the
organized crime world.

FBI officials said Russian and many other organized crime groups operating
in the United States are much more sophisticated and less violent than the
Albanians.

Part of the Albanian emergence stems from the FBI's success in busting the LCN.

Operation Buttondown, the code name for
the FBI's campaign to crush the Mafia,
reduced the number of families operating in the United States from 24 to only
nine, the FBI officials said.

More than 100 leading members of LCN
and more than 600 associates were arrested in the crackdown on organized crime.

Although no terrorism connection has been
discovered, the FBI says it is closely watching to see whether
the militant Muslims in the emerging organized crime world demonstrate ties to
organizations suspected of involvement in terrorist financing. (ROFLMFSAO! WHAT A WHOPPER!)
