Re: [CTRL] Arizona Land Owner Casey Nethercott Arrested AGAIN!
-Caveat Lector- I heard this on Alex Jones the other day Casey was being interviewed. Why are they arresting him? At 03:35 PM 3/2/2004 -0500, you wrote: -Caveat Lector- http://www.americanpatrol.com/RANCH_RESCUE/NethercottBustedAZ_040229.htmlhttp://www.americanpatrol.com/RANCH_RESCUE/NethercottBustedAZ_040229.html Arizona Land Owner Casey Nethercott Arrested AGAIN! (Received via e-mail on 2.29.04) Everyone: Please spread the word about our upcoming Convention here at Camp Thunderbird, Arizona on 17 April. We will assemble Citizens to vote on the establishment of the Arizona Citizens Militia, the election of a Commander, and the bylaws that will govern our conduct. Our landowner host, Casey Nethercott, was again thrown into jail on Friday 27 February in Tucson. He had appeared in court for a hearing on his bond status while he awaits trial in Texas. The Assistant County Attorney in Jim Hogg County, Rudy Gutierrez, lied to the prosecutor here in Arizona and had Casey thrown in jail again. He was in jail for about two hours, and then was released when he pointed out to a judge that he had already posted bond in excess of the amount that the prosecutor was asking for. The warrant for Casey's arrest on Friday was signed by the Governor of Arizona, Janet Napalitano herself. This was done under the provisions of the Patriot Act. Casey has to appear in court in Tucson again Monday 1 March 2004, at 2:30 PM Arizona time. He fully expects to be thrown into jail AGAIN, despite the fact that he has already posted a bond to guarantee his appearance in Texas on 15 March 2004. Even though he has posted bond, the state of Arizona is abusing their powers under the Patriot Act to deny Mr Nethercott his Constitutional rights as a Citizen of the USA. What the state of Arizona is saying, in an indirect way, is that they are stripping Mr Nethercott of his Constitutional rights, simply because they now can. This marks the end of Constitutional law in the state of Arizona, if not the entire nation. Our rights are now gone, and we can all now be summarily thrown into jail even though bail has already been posted and appearance has been guaranteed. What of our rights will they remove next? If Casey Nethercott is put back into custody, the state of Arizona will then try to extradite him back into custody of Jim Hogg County in Texas. If Casey Nethercott ever is put back into the hands of the corrupt county government and county law enforcement of that group known as the Texas Taliban, then they will attempt to kill him in jail. They tried to kill him while he was in their custody in March of 2003 by denying him insulin and spiking his food with sugar. This time, they are already planning to remove him from the jail in Jim Hogg County and keeping him hidden in a jail in another city, where he will be disappeared. Casey has already recorded a videotape statement that he will NOT commit suicide while he is in custody. We suspect that his captors will either try to fake his suicide, kill him by denying him insulin, or fake an attempt to escape and shoot him in his cell. We must not allow these tyrant bastards to get away with murdering a political prisoner in their custody. If Casey Nethercott dies while in custody, under any circumstances whatsoever, we will call upon all Militia and Patriot Citizens of this nation to assemble here at Camp Thunderbird, Arizona on 17 April to discuss the formation of the Arizona Citizens Militia and to help us make plans for our fight against the forces of evil that are threatening every man, woman, and child in America. If Casey Nethercott dies in the hands of his captors, we intend to go to war. Please spread the word. www.ctrl.org DECLARATION DISCLAIMER == CTRL is a discussion informational exchange list. Exclusive: Haitian President Says, 'I was kidnapped' 'Tell the world it was a coup' * http://www.democracynow.org/article.pl?sid=04/03/01/1521216 NEW YORK, March 1--Haitian President Jean-Bertrand Aristide says he was kidnapped and forcibly removed by US security from Haiti, according to multiple sources interviewed by Pacifica Radio. Congressmember Maxine Waters told Pacifica's flagship news program Democracy Now! that she received a phone call from the Haitian president this morning and Aristide says that he was kidnapped and taken by force to the Central African Republic. He's surrounded by military. It's like he is in jail, he said. He says he was kidnapped, said Waters. Waters told Democracy Now! host Amy Goodman Aristide had been threatened by what he called US Embassy diplomats. According to Waters, the deputy chief of mission at the US embassy in Port-au-Prince, Luis Moreno, and other US officials reportedly told the Haitian president that if he did not leave Haiti, paramilitary leader Guy Philippe would storm the palace and Aristide would be killed. Waters says that Aristide told her that the coup was completed by the Americans. The California congressmember said the US also disabled his American security force that he had around him for months now. Waters said that she received the call from Aristide at 9am EST. Aristide and his wife Mildred were not told where they were being taken and are presently being held against their will, Waters said. TransAfrica founder and close Aristide family friend Randall Robinson also received a call from the Haitian president early this morning and confirmed Waters account. Robinson says he spoke to Aristide on a cell phone that was smuggled to the Haitian president. Robinson told Democracy Now that Aristide emphatically denied that he had resigned. He did not resign, he said. He was abducted by the United States. A democratically elected president, abducted by the United States in the commission of an American induced coup. This is a frightening thing to contemplate. On Democracy Now!, Robinson recounted Aristide's description of his removal from Haiti: The soldiers came into the house and ordered them to use no phones and to come immediately. They were taken at gunpoint to the airport and put on a plane, said Robinson. They have no freedom. The president asked me to tell the world that it is a coup, that they have been kidnapped. That they have been abducted. Broadcast quality MP3s of the interviews with Rep. Maxine Waters and Randall Robinson are available at www.democracynow.org. Re: [CTRL] Letter to John Kerry
-Caveat Lector- To this Green Beret: John Wayne was a very BAD actor as well as an idiot. The only people who love him are gung-ho military types who think it's cool or macho to have a gun or to be a cowboy. (and call THIS patriotism -- or even worse -- acting). Sorry, that's not patriotic. You obviously don't remember Winter Soldier. What about Mei Li? Just because you *may* not have seen atrocities didn't mean they didn't happen. (though I doubt you didn't see it). Lots of Germans after the war denied the holocaust, that didn't make it non-existent. There are plenty of people who back up Kerry's claims. Do you really think anyone would admit to doing such horrendous things if they had not done them??? John Kerry said this in 1971. Get a grip. These aren't resurfaced old scars, they are the same old scars, you just are reminded. There were rapists, thugs and killers in US uniforms in Vietnam, just are there are currently, evidently, numerous rapists in Iraq wearing the fatigues of US soldiers (the current rape scandal of US female soldiers by male soldiers). War makes people crazy, they do crazy things, and Vietnam was more crazy than most, especially since it was wrong, and the US soldiers that were there were under tremendous pressure, as well as not having good leadership. I'm sure candy bars were given out, until they ran out. I only hope that there is better leadership in Iraq, though it doesn't look very hopeful. I have the feeling we are going to have a lot of damaged soldiers coming home from Iraq (and this is evidently already true). And also you don't remember Kerry got two purple hearts and a silver star. I'm glad you served your country, but whether you're green beret, a seal, an officer or a grunt doesn't impress me, truth does. And you shouldn't start churches in Buddhist countries, that's offensive. That's proselytizing and trying to shove our religion down a totally different cultures belief system and I find it extremely arrogant and offensive. The National Guard during the TIME of Vietnam was a way for people to escape the draft. People who went into it, primarily went into it to escape Vietnam, so get real. Those in the National Guard now, since there ISN'T a draft (yet!) are being sent to this tragedy in Iraq, and are losing their lives for nothing. Don't equate the National Guard of the time of Vietnam with our current National Guard, you DISHONOR their sacrifice. only 8% or less of the National Guard actually went to Vietnam. Bush was a draft dodger, and AWOL and dishonorable. (Being a Conscientious Objector is not dishonorable, btw, it's extremely hard to do it, once you realize that you didn't really want to kill innocent people and truly object to war. The military has a classification of it, and you have to be completely consistent, because they, unlike a lot of idiots out there, realize that a few young people when they go into boot camp are really not made to be killing machines and it's the training that convinces them they aren't cut out for it. If they were to be forced to go there, they would risk the lives of others. So there is an out for people who are CO's (I know this, my father is a military judge). These folks wishes are not always granted, but being a CO is a real issue, and should not be equated with cowardice as you seem to imply. These are people that have a very huge problem with killing other human beings, no matter what the reason. I wish everyone was like that.) As to your other accusations, I think John Kerry changed after he came home. He does have many questions to answer for, including those, but including a lot more. However, since Bush is continuing to send young people off to die in an unnecessary war, he has nothing to criticize Kerry over, especially since Bush never even really served. Did you know that Bush has not yet attended ONE SOLITARY funeral of a soldier that has died? That shows you just how much HE cares). What kind of commander in chief both deserts his troops and won't even visit one remembrance of the people he is responsible for killing??? What kind of an idiot says something on international TV regarding terrorist bombings in Iraq Bring 'em on!?? That's an open provocation to attack our people over there. One could almost call that kind of provocation treasonous. Definitely not a commander-in-chief, but corrupt politician chickenhawk who is only interested in oil. Bright Blessings! -Caveat Lector- At 08:53 AM 2/26/2004 -0500, you wrote: Johnson sent the regular Army into V.N. for one reason only, to cover his ass politically because he desperately feared being accused by the Republicans for 'losing' Indo-China. Johnson's own records show he was told in 1964 V.N. was unwinnable but he didn't care and gladly sacrificied 60,000 GI's and horribly wounded many 100,000's to cover his sorry South Texas bony ass. Not to mention the enormous damage done to our economy with repurcussions still felt today. To say nothing of the damage it has done to the psyche of this country. As a country we still haven't faced Vietnam. Don't get me wrong, I feel a great deal of compassion for these poor GI's who were so hideously used by our government, and then abandoned and betrayed by that same government when they return. I know too many vets (and I never blamed them for the war) who have deep psychological scarring from that atrocity (and when you look at it rationally, it was an atrocity, perpetuated by our government on both the Vietnamese AND our soldiers who were pawns). That there were protests here only shows that the young people of this nation and others knew that this war was wrong and tried to stop it. It's unfortunate that some of them didn't realize that these vets were pawns as well, because they also share some of the blame for the vets pain. I think we, as a nation, have learned this however, because I don't hear protestors of the war in Iraq blaming the soldiers, I hear protestors of the war blaming our administration and the British admin. There are too many vets who returned from the first Iraqi war with gulf war syndrome, and I'm very concerned about the health of all these soldiers that are there now (to say nothing of the amount of wounded and maimed soldiers, we may be looking at depleted uranium poisoning). I was raised in the military, and I respect those who give service to their nation in peacetime and in war, even if we don't always see eye-to-eye politically, because the military can really control your life (to say nothing of your thoughts). Anyway, back to our facing Vietnam. I'm not sure how we would do that to begin to heal from those incredibly deep wounds. But we need to start to try. Obviously nothing is learned. Our new Iraq 'splendid adventure' will cause equal if not greater damage to our nation and again the criminal political class responsible for these outrages will escape unscathed and enriched. flw www.ctrl.org DECLARATION DISCLAIMER == CTRL is a discussion informational exchange list. -Caveat Lector- I am going to hope that's why he's doing this... but somehow, knowing his arrogance, I doubt it.. I voted for him last time, and since I've seen his interviews in this, I don't think it's just to prove a point, I think it's arrogance. I think he knows none of us will risk voting for him, but it would be nice to have him force the candidates to actually address the issues. And it helps us to be skeptical. [CTRL] Our own inquiry
-Caveat Lector- from thesmirkingchimp.com It is incomprehensible why this administration has refused to aggressively pursue the leads that our inquiry developed, fumes Senator Bob Graham, the former co-chairman of the inquiry, which ended in 2003. The Bush White House has ignored all but one or two of the joint inquiry's 19 urgent recommendations to make the nation safer against the next attempted terrorist attack. The White House also allowed large portions of the inquiry's final report to be censored (redacted), claiming national security, so that even some members of the current 9/11 commission--whose mandate was to build on the work of the congressional panel--cannot read the evidence. Commission of Inquiry looking like a whitewash? Maybe it's time for us to have our own inquiry. Whereas the tragic events of 9-11 have been used by the United States government to justify a war upon the world, the Constitution, and the Bill of Rights; Whereas the Joint House and Senate Inquiry of September 11, 2001 and the Independent National Commission on Terrorist Attacks have not served to reveal the truth about the events of September 11, 2001, but to justify increasing the power of the National Security State; Whereas the mass-circulation press in the United States has failed to ask the most basic questions about what actually happened on September 11, 2001, and has supported the extension of U.S. military might throughout the world; We, who question the official narrative of September 11, 2001, and question the path the U.S. government has chosen in its wake, believe a public inquiry-- asking who, what, how, when and why -- into those events is vitally necessary. Therefore, this Inquiry intends to bring together, to share what they have learned with the world, independent researchers, questioners, seekers of evidence, authors, film-makers: all those who desire and work to discover the truth about September 11, 2001. Our hope is to create a safe space for new witnesses and testimony to come forward, and to deepen common understanding of the enormously complex events that preceded, occurred on and followed the attacks of September 11th 2001. Evidence suggests that September 11, 2001 was a special operation designed to terrorize Americans into silent conformity, to legitimize the crushing of dissent throughout the world, and to gain public support for imperial wars. Our hope is to disempower the war game once and for all, by exposing the criminal actions of those in power who committed crimes against humanity to advance that power. Oral presentations and films will take place in the historic Herbst Theatre in the War Memorial and Veterans Building. A nominal fee will cover plenary sessions. Additionally, meeting rooms will be available for registered participants who are researchers/activists to confer together; their findings will be brought before the public on Sunday afternoon, at the conclusion of the Inquiry. [CTRL] More on AWOL George
-Caveat Lector- The Media should be interviewing them rather than that senile guy Calhoun... Update: On Guard - or AWOL? Date: Wednesday, February 18 @ 09:52:48 EST Topic: Commander-In-Thief Memphian Bob Mintz and flying mate Paul Bishop looked forward to greeting George W. Bush at Dannelly ANG base in 1972 - but never saw him. By Jackson Baker, Memphis Flyer (This is an updated and expanded version of a story which first appeared in this space last week.) Two members of the Air National Guard unit that President George W. Bush allegedly served with as a young Guard flyer in 1972 had been told to expect him late in that year and were on the lookout for him. He never showed, however; of that both Bob Mintz and Paul Bishop are certain. The question of Bush's presence in 1972 at Dannelly Air National Guard base in Montgomery, Alabama - or the lack of it - has become an issue in the 2004 presidential campaign. And that issue, which picked up steam last week, continues to rage. Recalls Memphian Mintz, now 62: I remember that I heard someone was coming to drill with us from Texas. And it was implied that it was somebody with political influence. I was a young bachelor then. I was looking for somebody to prowl around with. But, says Mintz, that somebody -- better known to the world now as the president of the United States -- never showed up at Dannelly in 1972. Nor in 1973, nor at any time that Mintz, a FedEx pilot now and an Eastern Airlines pilot then, when he was a reserve first lieutenant at Dannelly, can remember. And I was looking for him, repeated Mintz, who said that he assumed that Bush changed his mind and went somewhere else to do his substitute drill. It was not somewhere else, however, but the 187th Air National Guard Tactical squadron at Dannelly to which the young Texas flyer had requested transfer from his regular Texas unit - the reason being Bush's wish to work in Alabama on the ultimately unsuccessful U.S. Senate campaign of family friend Winton Red Blount. It is the 187th, Mintz's unit, which was cited, during the 2000 presidential campaign, as the place where Bush completed his military obligation. And it is the 187th that the White House continues to contend that Bush belonged to - as recently as last week, when presidential spokesman Scott McClellan released payroll records and, later, evidence suggesting that Bush's dental records might be on file at Dannelly. Late last weekend, the White House even made available what it said was the entirety of Bush's service record. Even so, the mystery of the young lieutenant's whereabouts in late 1972 remains. THERE'S NO WAY WE WOULDN'T HAVE NOTICED a strange rooster in the henhouse, especially since we were looking for him, insists Mintz, who has begun poring over such documents relating to the matter as are now making their way around the Internet. One of these is a piece of correspondence addressed to the 187th's commanding officer, then Lt. Col. William Turnipseed, concerning Bush's redeployment. Mintz remembers a good deal of base scuttlebutt at the time about the letter, which clearly identifies Bush as the transferring party. It couldn't be anybody else. No one ever did that again, as far as I know. In any case, he is certain that nobody else in that time frame, 1972-73, requested such a transfer into Dannelly. Mintz, who at one time was a registered Republican and in recent years has cast votes in presidential elections for independent Ross Perot and Democrat Al Gore, confesses to a negative reaction to what he sees as out-and-out dissembling on President Bush's part. You don't do that as an officer, you don't do that as a pilot, you don't do it as an important person, and you don't do it as a citizen. This guy's got a lot of nerve. Though some accounts reckon the total personnel component of the 187th as consisting of several hundred, the actual flying squadron - that to which Bush was reassigned - numbered only 25 to 30 pilots, Mintz said. There's no doubt. I would have heard of him, seen him, whatever. Even if Bush, who was trained on a slightly different aircraft than the F4 Phantom jets flown by the squadron, opted not to fly with the unit, he would have had to encounter the rest of the flying personnel at some point, in non-flying formations or drills. And if he did any flying at all, on whatever kind of craft, that would have involved a great number of supportive personnel. It takes a lot of people to get a plane into the air. But nobody I can think of remembers him. I talked to one of my buddies the other day and asked if he could remember Bush at drill at any time, and he said, 'Naw, ol' George wasn't there. And he wasn't at the Pit, either.' The Pit was The Snake Pit, a nearby bistro where the squadron's pilots would gather for frequent after-hours revelry. And the buddy was Bishop, then a lieutenant at Dannelly and now a pilot for Kalitta, a charter airline that in recent months has been flying war materiel into the Iraq

Republicans, the NRA and pro-lifers were all wackos. On Tuesday, ABCNews.com made some confessions of their own confessions that are as profound as Goldbergs. On the ABC site's must-read The Note section, prepared by the network's political unit, was the following, and we quote verbatim: Like every other institution, the Washington and political press corps operate with a good number of biases and predilections. They include, but are not limited to, a near-universal shared sense that liberal political positions on social issues like gun control, homosexuality, abortion, and religion are the default, while more conservative positions are 'conservative positions.' They include a belief that government is a mechanism to solve the nation's problems; that more taxes on corporations and the wealthy are good ways to cut the deficit and raise money for social spending and don't have a negative affect on economic growth; and that emotional examples of suffering (provided by unions or consumer groups) are good ways to illustrate economic statistic stories The press, by and large, does not accept President Bush's justifications for the Iraq war in any of its WMD, imminent threat, or evil-doer formulations. It does not understand how educated, sensible people could possibly be wary of multilateral institutions or friendly, sophisticated European allies. It does not accept the proposition that the Bush tax cuts helped the economy by stimulating summer spending. It remains fixated on the unemployment rate. It believes President Bush is 'walking a fine line' with regards to the gay marriage issue, choosing between 'tolerance' and his 'right-wing base.' It still has a hard time understanding how, despite the drumbeat of conservative grass-top complaints about overspending and deficits, President Bush's base remains extremely and loyally devoted to him and it looks for every opportunity to find cracks in that base. Of course, the swirling Joe Wilson and National Guard stories play right to the press's scandal bias not to mention the bias towards process stories (grand juries produce ENDLESS process!). The worldview of the dominant media can be seen in every frame of video and every print word choice that is currently being produced about the presidential race. -Caveat Lector- the anti-environmentalism comments approaches soapboxing, because that's screed, not substance.. At 03:36 AM 2/10/2004 -0500, you wrote: -Caveat Lector- ~~for educational purposes only~~ [Title 17 U.S.C. section 107] Dadacracy Now, Totalitarianism Next by Eric Englund Our founding fathers gave us a republic, if we could keep it. The United States Constitution was crafted to strictly limit government so as not to deprive citizens of their natural rights to life, liberty, private property, and the pursuit of happiness. Ever since the Civil War (which it really wasnt), the founding of the Federal Reserve, two world wars, FDRs New Deal, and LBJs Great Society, American government has transformed into a democracy. So now we must worship, and abide by, the will of the majority at the expense of our liberty. This is a particularly frightening thought considering that what passes for wisdom today is based upon feelings and emotions while logical and rational thinking have been eviscerated. In turn, it is quite common to encounter terms such as Demopublican and Republocrat to describe the emotional and illogical citizenry of the United States (with the most mentally imbalanced seeking elective office of course). Add in environmentalism, moral relativism, multiculturalism, political correctness, and a public education system that pushes this tripe, a truly confused citizenry emerges from this messy hodgepodge. When combining democracy with a dazed and confused citizenry, the United States has devolved into a dadacracy. From where does the term dadacracy come? The Dada movement, which began in 1916 (and, in essence, still survives to this day), embodies what it means to be illogical, self-referential, and emotional. Dadaism was an artistic and literary movement that was nihilistic and anti-Western civilization. Dada was more than an art form or culture; it was a state of mind (Information on Dadaism). For those who shared the Dada state of mind, the following were considered to be positive attributes of Dadaism (A Brief History of Dadaism): o All forms of modern civilization were found to be disgusting. o One of its aims pertained to the relativization of all values. o It sought a complete break with tradition (Dadaists didnt want to be reminded that anybody existed before them). o It sought the systematic destruction of culture and of civilization. In Dadaism, Freedom from everything was the watchword. Revolutionary spirit, relativity, spontaneity, and primitivity ranked as positive values. Moreover, Dadaists were typically supportive of communism. When examining moral relativism, multiculturalism, political correctness, and environmentalism (which is socialisms Trojan horse aimed at destroying private property rights), it is quite apparent that those who are part of todays alleged intellectual vanguard are simply modern-day Dadaists. In turn, these college professors, public school teachers, newspaper editors, television anchors, and countless others, undermine Western civilization every time they open their mouths or put pen to paper. With enough repetition in the classroom, on the TV, in the newspaper, and elsewhere, Dada indeed does become a state of mind. Emotion and feelings are celebrated as the pinnacle of intellect whilst logic and true scholarship are eschewed as worthless relics. The mind dies as it becomes infected by illogic. Thus, we become engulfed by the culture of the moron (to use Bill Bonners phrase). Consequently, when such people enter the voting booth, typically registered as Republicans or Democrats, be assured that they are really Dadacrats. Hence, America has become a dadacracy. Examples of Dadacrats abound. The gymnasium at which I exercise has a member that wears T-shirts from Earth First! and from Greenpeace. When he has completed his workout, he drives home in his luxurious Mercedes E 400. I doubt either aforementioned organization would approve of his vehicle. Ah, but as long as he feels good about himself. Speaking of vehicles, I frequently see a Hummer H2 with an Oregon DMV custom license plate with the state-mandated phrase of Cultural Trust. A car owner must pay additional fees for such a license plate with the excess fees going to the states Litter Patrol Fund and to the states Trust for Cultural Development. It is rather ironic to see such an enlightened multiculturalist/environmentalist driving a Hummer. No room for logic in that enormous SUV. What really gets to me is that the Democrats I know cant stand President Bush even though his administration is working hard to bring about the second incarnation of the Great Society. Conversely, Republicans I know love President Bush even though he is trying to bring about the second incarnation of the Great Society. When Dada becomes a state of mind, logic dies and we see it all around us. Just as a quick sidebar, it is obvious to paleolibertarians that President Bush is immoral and

-Caveat Lector- here are the anti-environmentalism comments: At 03:36 AM 2/10/2004 -0500, you wrote: Add in environmentalism, moral relativism, multiculturalism, political correctness, and a public education system that pushes this tripe, a truly confused citizenry emerges from this messy hodgepodge. For those who shared the Dada state of mind, the following were considered to be positive attributes of Dadaism (A Brief History of Dadaism): o All forms of modern civilization were found to be disgusting. o One of its aims pertained to the relativization of all values. o It sought a complete break with tradition (Dadaists didn't want to be reminded that anybody existed before them). o It sought the systematic destruction of culture and of civilization. Environmentalism doesn't seek any of this. if this person thinks this, they have a totally wrong hit on those of us who want a healthy world. Most of us want sustainability and rational approaches to living. In some respects this harkens back to tradition, because long before there was agri-biz, (which devastates our health and the environment) farmers practiced sustainable methods, mainly because that was the most practical. Organic methods are now realized as a much more sane and healthy way to live. It is mis-information to imply that those who are environmentally aware are also neo-luddites. Many of us are aware that technology provides break throughs which can help the environment and that technology in some instances may be the only answer to cleaning up some of the messes of industry, to say nothing of helping us to get off the teat of oil (and thus prevent the main impetus of an administration that seeks world hegemony), through alternative energy technologies. I could continue to go on a lot about this, but those serve as good examples. As to seeking the systemic destruction of culture and civilization, that's just ridiculous. Culture enriches all of us (from as many sources as possible, and especially does a world of good for cooking), and doesn't detract. Civilization is not threatened by practicing sane environmental policies, it is enriched. As to relativization of values I don't think wanting people to live in a healthy environment, or a desire to preserve species is a relativization of anything, in fact I think that's highly moral and/or ethical (which is a word I prefer) value, because it honors all living things right to live in a clean world. -Caveat Lector- oh, and here's another one... When examining moral relativism, multiculturalism, political correctness, and environmentalism (which is socialisms Trojan horse aimed at destroying private property rights), it is quite apparent that those who are part of todays alleged intellectual vanguard are simply modern-day Dadaists. This is a typical Libertarian knee jerk reaction to environmentalism and this is exactly what I meant by a soapbox issue. That is strictly an opinion, and doesn't even begin to reflect reality. Environmentalism doesn't have as it's aim to destroy personal property rights. However, when a person buys property and involves themselves in practices that denudes that environment and has the repurcussions of such things as affecting an entire water shed, then you betcha, environmentalists will want to stop whatever is happening. What this writer fails to point out now is that CORPORATIONS are regarded as persons now, so if they dump tons of environmental waste on their property and this goes downstream, the whole community as well as the environment, is threatened. Environmentalists then want this person to stop this practice, and to also repair the damage. This isn't destroying their rights. In fact, I would say, that the CORPORATION at this point is having a direct effect on other people's rights, both civil and in terms of their property. This is why environmental regulations are critical, because without them, everyone else is at the mercy of the bottom line (which certainly doesn't reflect community values) If I am a small organic farmer who is doing everything right in terms of traditional farming methods, etc, and along comes Monsanto and plants a bioengineered plant near my property line and then SUES me if their corn pollinates my corn by the wind (even though I am horrified when it happens), then who is infringing on whose property rights now??? If I am a huge agri-biz pig farmer and the effluents of my woe-begotten hogs that are in heartless and unhealthy factory farms start to destroy the clean water of an entire state, and also cause pfisteria in fish and effect an entire population who depends on fishing as their livelihood, to say nothing of effecting the health of the fishermen and everyone else connected with it, then who is infringing on whose property rights now? (look at Virginia and Maryland and the effects of Pfisteria on the Chesapeake Bay). Just like Bush is a dry drunk, the Libertarian agenda is as well on this issue. They can only see things in selfish terms. When your s**t infringes on my life then property rights are moot. In turn, these college professors, public school teachers, newspaper editors, television anchors, and countless others, undermine Western civilization every time they open their mouths or put pen to paper. To propose any budget that will result in a $500,000,000,000+ deficit is tantamount to fiscal child abuse. Perhaps we will get to buy a lot of guns and butter today, yet it is immoral to make future generations pick up the tab. The following is an excerpt from H.A. Scott
