The only time I ever got a flu shot, within 6 weeks I had the WORST bout
of flu I'd ever had in my whole life...I'd never been that sick before,
it was the first time I'd ever had laryngitis, etc.
Within the following year, I started exhibiting the first symptoms of
what would be eventually diagnosed as Hashimoto's thyroiditis...when I
asked the endocrinologist what causes it, she said they aren't sure, that
there are any number of causes/triggers, a severe bout of flu being one
of them...
I patently REFUSE to have another flu shot, EVER...

June, I don't know if this was the practice when you got your shot, but when I
got my flu shot a couple of months ago, I had to sign a sheet stating that I
had been informed of the possible side effects of the vaccine. Yes, it *can*
give you a full-blown case of the flu, although the odds of that happening are
low; you were one of the cases where it *did* happen. I have to get a flu
shot, as well as pneumovax (vaccine against Staphylococcus pneumoniae, which
causes some forms of pneumonia as well as other problems), because I have a
chronic lung condition (pulmonary sarcoidosis). It's your call whether you get
another flu shot; if you're otherwise healthy, and don't mind running the
risk, you can probably get away with skipping it. I *can't* run that risk; I
have enough trouble breathing without adding the flu into the equation. I also
doubt that the flu vaccine is related to the thing that Teo was speaking
of--I've had a variant of it for the past two months. My pulmonologist calls
it "There's a lot of that going around." I'd like to see an epidemiological
study of the areas where the spraying, odd contrails, etc., have been
reported, to determine if there is a greater incidence of "there's a lot of
that going around" in those areas than elsewhere. Even some strong anecdotal
evidence would be useful.
