-Caveat Lector- In a message dated 1/19/99 10:34:25 PM Mountain Standard Time, [EMAIL PROTECTED] writes: From wsws.org WSWS : News Analysis : North America : Clinton Impeachment Networks fail to report Republican ties to racist groups A curious silence By David Walsh 20 January 1999 A significant aspect of the ongoing drive to oust Bill Clinton has been the virtual silence of the American mass media, particularly the major networks, on the links between leading Republicans in the House and Senate and extreme right-wing and racist organizations. More than a month has passed since the Washington Post first revealed that Rep. Bob Barr (R-Ga.), a member of the House Judiciary Committee and one of the prosecutors in the Senate impeachment trial, was a keynote speaker at a convention of the Council of Conservative Citizens (CCC), a white supremacist group with ties to Ku Klux Klan and neo-fascist elements. Subsequently the even more intimate and long-standing CCC ties of Senate Majority Leader Trent Lott, Republican of Mississippi, have been exposed. Governor Kirk Fordice of Mississippi, a considerable number of Mississippi state legislators, Senator Jesse Helms of North Carolina and a number of other, primarily Southern, politicians have been linked to the organization. What the World Socialist Web Site (WSWS) fails to tell its readers in its own brand of curious silence is that 47 Democrats are actual card carrying members of this group. Its called two faced and it is unfortunalty something many of the politicians do all the time. Remember how some of the conservatives supported Nixon even after he resigned in disgrace? Now we see the Democrats/Liberals supporting Clinton no matter what he does. What it boils down to is the notion that "if my guy is in power, then everything he could possibly do from molesting children, raping women or abusing office is allright because he is my guy." Fools never change. Cheers, Robert DECLARATION DISCLAIMER == CTRL is a discussion and informational exchange list. Proselyzting propagandic screeds are not allowed. Substancenot soapboxing! They're not saying much of anything about a few other folks either. Lars-Erik Nelson's column, "Look Who's Sitting In Judgment" discusses Sen. Strom Thurmond's days as a judge in South Carolina and good old Chief Justice William Rehnquist who once used his vast legal intellect to intimidate minorities trying to vote in Arizona elections. Nothing like the Republican elite to give our youngsters inspiration, well if you want them to grow up to be racists. The curious silence continues. Why not give us a list of the 47 Democrats? Prudy Interestingly the curious silence has been perpuated by the liberal left leaning media who only reported that they knew of 47 Democrats but has not published their names. Who says the left leaning media outlets aren't just as biased as the right leaning media outlets. cheers, Robert DECLARATION DISCLAIMER == CTRL is a discussion and informational exchange list.
