Hmmm...I would've expected 17 as well fnord. (Or perhaps the frequent
occurrence of 16 is meant to imply 17 *by its absence*... "Indeed do many
things come to pass!")

Keep up the work! Now, I realise that life is just this random event,
random moment after random moment. Yet, despite being on this freefall
roller coaster, there are those who make a concerted effort to make some
sense of it all. Ergo, religious texts, politics, learning (higher and
otherwise), and other systematic analyses come into play --- oh, almost
forgot 'writing'; the means by which thought and word are made into a
system of symbols. And then there are the "Conspiracy Theory" -ists, who
look at the world in a different way. The movie was about one of these
folks, and was not one of the themes: "if you look at everything, the
chances are you might get something right" ? Now, let's assume that the
people who made the movie really had an idea of what they were thinking,
talking about; it seems only natural they would put clues into the film for
the discerning viewer. The movie was made **intentionally** and who knows
what little tricks and games the creators played.

The lettre "n" ? This is the 14th lettre of the alphabet (as we in the
U.S. know it); 1 + 4 = 5 (2 + 3 = 5, too). I think the Illuminati might
find this a significant number; if not them, certainly the Qabalists (a
current craze in MovieLand). One hour and thirty-five minutes = 95
minutes; 9 + 5 = 14, and, well ... in a random world, coincidence happens
and must be accepted as such, a random event.

[CTRL] Conspiracy Theory: The Movie

1999-02-04 Thread Johannes Schmidt

 -Caveat Lector-

I rented the Mel Gibson flick Conspiracy Theory last week, and spent
some time flashing frame by frame looking for subliminals and other tid
bits. Heres what I found.

The first and most obvious subliminal is the Warner Bros logo in the
first few seconds of the film. This isn't a subliminal per se but it is
there (I think) to let people know what to look out for. Theres a lot of
product names flashed around in the film (moreso than normal films with
'product placement')

The Best subliminal I found was in the scene where Gibson and Julia
Roberts are talking at her apartment for a few minutes. There is a bowl
of fruit directly in the foreground (I remember it was much clearer on
the big screen). The bowl of fruit looks exactly like a male genitalia,
and it is in the picture for at least a minute while they are talking.

1 hour and 35 minutes into the film, the letters N N or N I N are
clearly visible on crates as they drive past. The letter N seems to show
up a lot.

Where Jerry goes into the Federal Building and looks at the board
showing the tenants, the following motley assortment are shown:

Department of the Air Force, Office of Special Investigations,
Army Corps of Engineers,
Central Intelligence Agency,
Department of Commerce,
Bureau of the Census,
Minority Business Development,
FEMA,
Federal Employees Assistance Program.
Federal Executive Board,
Federal Supply Service,
Assistant Regional Administration,
General Services Admin,
 Office of Regional Admin
 Office of Personell

The numbers 5 and 23 crop up frequently. The bus they meet on is a
number 5. The SPace Shuttle (according to the article he clips) will be
in orbit 23 days 16 hours with a crew of 5.
The numbers 16 and 48 also are frequent. There seem to be some patterns
ut i am unable to discern them.

His taxi number IS48
Combination to his coffee 42312
Bus Number 1648 (5 also visible)
Subway platforms: 4716 and 4717
Name on Taxi License: Kaffi Paloulian 4650217
ALice's Mobile no: 9179239597
Taxi ALice takes to confront Jonas: 3N23
Global Fund for Mergers and Aquisitions suite number: 1203
Office Number Alice calls on her mobile: 2125551257 (stored number #3)
Fed Car at burst watermains 28073
Gerrys Union Pin number 107

There are also a few characters who reappear. The most obvious one is
'FLip', the newsagent/spy. Also note the old man in the bookstore who
asks Gerry about the Catcher in the Rye is a security guard at the
hospital he is held at near the end. There are probably others too.

The newspapers Gerry clips state that:
The item on the president to visit turkey: On the rest of the page is an
incomplete article on GWS and Schwartzkopf claiming ignorance on why
parts of his battle logs are missing.

The orbituary for Harriman states he married Mellissa Garrison (any
relation to Jim?).

Anyway, if anyone can make any sense of any of the above, you probably
need some time to relax!
