Bill,
Actually, I got it from watching/listening to the 
actual hearings as I am not leaving my house until my Westie has her first 
litter of puppies. The criminal was represented by a multi-partnered law 
firm with prior experience in capitol cases and an excellent reputation.He 
was well represented but apparently White did not like the verdict. There was a 
preponderance of overwhelming evidence like the eight year old girl who watched 
the accused shoot her mother and other eyewitnesses.BTW, if you have any 
url's for that right-wing press to which you refer, will you please send them to 
me?

The "settled law" to which Ashcroft referred was the fact
that the abortion laws were already on the books, ergo
"settled" and not being currently debated. He enforced those
laws without regard to his personal beliefs.  Please present
your proof of his perjury.  If it is anything like your
concept of what was being said with the "settled law" issue,
I am not too worried about it.  If any proof there had been,
that pack of jackals would have been all over it.  After
all, the man has been in public service for 38 years.  I
think his record has been checked out a few times already.

audio/visual recordings of
 the hearings in its archives (CSPAN.org).  I have watched
the hearings and
 the floor debate.  Ashcroft has used the powers of public
office to further
 an ideological agenda and ignored what during the hearings
he has called
 "settled law" in order to do it.  Furthermore, he has
'misrepresented' facts
 while under oath during the hearings.  Golly gee, that's
perjury.  Good thing
 the right wing doesn't have a double standard by which to
judge such things.
