We had no choice but to cross over to where the Gore/Lieberman demonstrators stood - my car was down the street. I consulted with some supporters and a cop before crossing the street just to make sure this was okay. "My son had been given a Sore-Loserman sign, which I had instructed him to carry low. I held onto the hand of my six-year-old, as we passed through the crowd on the other side. "Within seconds my daughter began to scream that her brother was hurt. I turned to see him sobbing, while the Gore supporters stood around him and screamed at him. A fully grown man had punched him in the stomach!!! "I bellowed at them to move, and shouted 'Who touched my son?' They moved out of my way, all of them proclaiming that it wasn't them, and that the guy had mysteriously vanished. "I grabbed a cop, who questioned them. But of course no one would give his name. "My son had been called an idiot, so he responded by calling the guy a sore loser. This got him punched in the gut. They actually tried to argue that I shouldn't have walked this way. "The cop let us cross over to the media, and we managed to get home safely."
