Zionists admit: we killed three women in cold blood
Occupied Jerusalem: 13 June, 2001 (IAP News) - The Zionist occupation
regime on Wednesday belatedly and begrudgingly admitted its occupation
troops murdered three Bedouin women in Khan Younis south of Gaza five days
ago, claiming the killing was a mistake.
The three women were killed by a deadly shell containing flechette darts
fired by an Israeli tank crew who said they were firing on terrorists.
However, the Israeli state-run radio today quoted Israel's war minister
Benyamin Benalizer as saying that the target the soldiers intended to
destroy was more than 1500 meters away from the tent in which the three
women were asleep.
In a June 12 Radio Palestine interview Brig-Gen Sa'ib al-Ajiz, commander
of the Palestinian National Authority (PNA) National Security Forces in
the Northern Gaza governorates explained how the three Palestinian women,
Hikmat Malaha, a newly-wed 17 year old, her aunt Silmiyeh Malaha, 65, and
Nasra Malaha, 55, were killed:
The Israelis used an internationally prohibited shell, according to the
Geneva Convention. They fired four shells at an area in which more than
500 Bedouin families live in tents. During the shelling, the three women
were killed because a kind of ammunition called flechette. Every shell
contains 5,000 arrows. The arrow hits the target up to a distance of 300
metres and a width of 98-100 metres. Any person who happens to be there
will be hit . This anti-personnel shell is prohibited internationally, he
stated.
The incident is added to scores of cold-blooded murders perpetrated by
nervous and trigger-happy Israeli occupation soldiers unworried about any
accountability for their actions.
The apartheid regime in Israel normally refrains from prosecuting Israeli
soldiers and settlers who carry out crimes, including murder, against
Palestinians.
And in the few cases in which Jewish murders are prosecuted, extenuating
circumstances are concocted and the defendants are usually set free after
serving a symbolic prison sentence lasting for a few months or weeks.
