There was an IRS investigation and she was forced to pay about $1 million in back taxes. (From memory from Kitty Kelly's book 'Nancy Reagan'). As I recall, this was happening around the same time Leona Helmseley was in jail for tax evasion. If the gifts were accepted by Bill & Hill before she was sworn in as Senator, I doubt Judicial Watch has a leg to stand on. But they probably just like the publicity of non-stop harassment of the Clintons. The Clintons released financial disclosure statements in the closing hours of their White House residency that detail over $190,000 dollars in gifts, china and furniture that Senator Hillary Rodham Clinton will benefit from and enjoy for her personal use. Judicial Watch looks to the Senate Ethics Committee to investigate Senator Clintons conduct and arrive at an appropriate remedy for the junior senators conduct. Senate rules, standards of conduct and federal law all have strict provisions concerning the illegal or improper solicitation and acceptance of gifts.
