He said: I think it was the heroism of the passengers on board that brought it down, but the Air Force was in a position to do so if we had to. If press reports are accurate and they were wating for the prexy to make decisions, he was told about the first event and then kept reading to the kids during an education photo-op for some twenty minutes. Considering the flight paths that UA11 and AA175 took, why didn't they scramble the fighters at Newburgh, NY? They could have been over Manhattan in a matter of minutes I was watching live coverage of the event from 9am EDT on...and not once were there any fighter jets flying over the scene from the time of the impacts until the 2nd tower collapsed...
