We were talking about this on another list and were warned that caution is
to be used when using cilantro to chelate mercury. This is a portion of
that warning post:

  "I know from experience, and
from the practitioners that I work with including my holistic doctor,
that it can be quite dangerous to take cilantro in therapeutic doses
unless you take a chelating agent along with it. This could be
chlorella, for example, or Pro-Algen, an arctic ocean algae product.
Chlorella or Pro-algen will bind the toxic metals being released and
pass them harmlessly from the body. Otherwise you can have mercury
freely circulating in the blood and, if you were toxic to begin with,
you can get very, very ill. It can wreak havoc on the liver and/or
kidneys. This happened to me so I know. It is necessary to take
about 12 caps of chlorella per day if you are doing such a procedure,
or 3 caps of Pro-algen which turns out to be much cheaper. I can get
Pro-Algen if anyone is interested.
In addition, what this article does not say is that, before doing
any sort of a cilantro cleanse, it is imperative that the person in
question has done quite a bit of other detoxifying first using other
methods. The reason for this is as follows. Cilantro is able to
pass the blood-brain barrier and is one of the few detoxifying
substances able to do this. And it will pull mercury and aluminum
from the brain, which is very difficult to do otherwise. However,
cilantro will move these toxic metals from the area of *greater*
concentration to the area of *lesser* concentration. So suppose you
have more mercury in your body, overall, than in your brain.
You take cilantro--the result is that the mercury is moved out of
the main part of your body, and into your brain. Now you are worse
off than before. Your body must be *relatively clear* of mercury
before you start the cilantro. Then, the result will be that the
mercury is moved from your brain into your body, and can be excreted,
with the help of binding agents as described above.
Detoxing heavy and toxic metals is no joke and must be done very
carefully, unless you are a person with just a bit of toxicity and
a healthy, strong constitution to begin with. I usually don't do a
"reply to all" in an email, but I felt that the information in the
original email was potentially dangerous enough that it merited a
warning."

  A caution from another poster:

"Re this topic, one should not chelate with Cilantro if one still
has the mercury amalgam fillings in place in the mouth and one
should be very careful about chelating period, much can be learned
by subbing to one of the metals lists to learn more about the
dangers. "

  Please use caution!

[CTRL] MERCURY AMALGAMS

2000-05-15 Thread Daryl Stambaugh

In re Freya Koss posting on amalgam filing dangers:

The following information is for anyone who has amalgam filings {'silver' or
'mercury'}, particularly if you are going to have work done on those filings.
Removing the in place filings can release inordinate amounts of mercury in a
short time . . . find a dentist who knows how to remove them, even with this
precaution, you will still get a high exposure upon removal.

POP QUIZ: Who holds the patents on amalgam filing material? Ans.: AMA

There is a short article about a Dr. Yoshiaki Omura by David G. Williams, DC,
which was posted to www.ctrl.orgsome time ago, which reports on Dr.
Omura's discovery that CILANTRO [ also known as CHINESE PARSLEY or in its
seed form CORIANDOR ] has a remarkable ability to chelate mercury, lead and
aluminum from the body. Dr. Omura believes that it is desirable to eat RAW
cilantro in salads for best effect; cooking is harmful to the chelating
ability of cilantro. Cilantro is usually available in larger food store
veggie sections and is not expensive. If you are unfamiliar with it, the
taste is 'unusual' at first but it is widely used around the world as a
seasoning. I now grow my own, it's a weed actually, in Montana so you should
be able to grow it as well.
