Hi all, As far as I know at this stage, Hawass has claimed this to be perhaps a 'symbolic' Tomb of Osiris. This discovery has been news for a while...it was originally found about 1934 by Selim Hassan. Just recently they started excavating again, I have heard some mention that Dr Mark Lehner actually used to go swimming in this water because it is extremely clear. They found some relatively young tombs, but down deeper they found this place. There has been a fair amount of coverage of it, at the National Geographic conference in December Hawass described it as perhaps being a 'symbolic' Tomb of Osiris, which may have caused confusion. But, there is definitely something weird up. Whether it's just for the tourist dollar, or there is some sort of cover-up...Zahi Hawass is doing some genuinely weird things. After disavowing that the 'Queen's Chamber' shaft had a secret chamber, he is now saying that they will open it in a special event at the turn of the millenium. Also on the millenium, Hawass says they will place a temporary golden cap on the top of the Great Pyramid....fulfilling the Masonic story (also seen on the US dollar bill) that when the gold cap is put back on the GP, a new order of ages will be established. And now, he is mentioning a 'symbolic' tomb of Osiris....not the real thing, but just enough to make you wonder.
