Veteran radio host Art Bell may be going off the air April 26, but a
movement is afoot to keep the airwaves open to the kind of
controversial topics Bell has tackled in his quest for answers to the
unexplained over the years.

Earlier this week, Rob McConnell, of Newstalk 610 CKTB and Affinity
Radio Group, fired off a memo to leadership in the UFO reporting and
disclosure community saying that a new group of "Riders" has been
formed to maintain Bell's momentum. Bell announced in late March that
he was retiring from his nationwide Coast-to-Coast evening radio
program for personal and professional reasons.

Since Bell's surprise move, speculation has increased that there
might
be something more to the story. For his part, McConnell's not happy
with Bell's replacement, nor with the alleged censorship changes that
have occurred on Bell's website since his announcement in March.

"There are a group of long-time, very loyal, Art Bell fans that have
gotten together," said McConnell. "We call ourselves the RIDERS, as
in
Wanna Take a Ride, that Art has been using for a long time. We have
found that since the announcement€ '¥the message boards at
www.artbell.com have come under extreme scrutiny and censorship by
the webmaster. So we RIDERS have formed an online e-mail messaging
service and are communicating and posting messages there instead of on Art's
former website," McConnell said in a memo distributed via Skywatch
and other paranormal./UFO-related sites.

"We are concerned that what (Bell's successors) are doing is to
water-down and whitewash Coast to Coast, because we think Art shook
too many trees...that in mind, we are also afraid that many of you,
Art's long-time favorite guests, will not be able to get onto the
program with your reports - especially in a timely manner," said
McConnell.

"So, with that said, we RIDERS have an idea, and we'd like you all to
participate. You don't need to leave home, and if you're already
on-line, it won't cost you anything. We are all meeting next Saturday
afternoon, April 22, at 5:00 pm EDT/2:00 pm PDT at www.egroups.com.
This will be the AfterMidnight Group Chat Meeting. One of the things
we intend to discuss is the possibility of organizing and setting up
a webcast radio-type program, where you all will be invited to speak,"
he said. "Please know also, that we are not trying to subvert Coast
to Coast Premier network, or Art Bell. We are just trying to preserve
the timely flow of important information."

McConnell signed his message "the rag-tag group of After Midnight
Riders."
