Just a couple of days ago we had a story of how it was composed by a
young Confederate soldier who died in his father's arms, etc. Which is
true?

I dunna know, The Story of Taps wasn't sourced. Perhaps Bill Richer
<[EMAIL PROTECTED]> can let us all know. The locale of the story does seem to be
the same in both but the suggested author of taps are different

The Story of Taps - Union Army Captain Robert Ellicombe from a note found his
dead son's pocket, who was fighting for the Confederacy.

The Virginia Way - Union Army General Butterfield

Quien Sabe?

But what about the fact that the Union Jack flies at Williamsburg instead of
Old Glory?
