[CTRL] PLEASE READ - Re: [CTRL] Well ain't this fun . . . CTRL and ctrl . . . INPUT

2001-10-05 Thread Kris Millegan

-Caveat Lector-

I have been giving this quite a bit o' thought and am asking for any input.
Both of the folks below make valid points. Here are some of my thoughts.

1. Being on aol has its advantages, sometimes, and there are lots of links
out their that lead to it and it has been established there for years. And if
it is a beast I would like to be near its belly.

2. I do like having a back-up list up and running and yahoo groups does have
some good points.

3. the biggest problem is the "hassle factor" and the splitting of resources.
By being more accesible there may also be an expanding of resources.

4. BUT I also know that folks are not going to want to receive double posts.
And we all are busy enough with too much mail already in our boxes and such.

5. Yahoo groups with its web based interface does make it easy for folks to
not recieve mail. And with designations of CTRL for listerv.aol and ctrl for
yahoo maybe it will work.

So if folks are ready for a little experiment let me know or if you think two
lists is unmanageable please let me know.

CTRL is a discussion & informational exchange list. Proselytizing propagandic
screeds are unwelcomed. Substance—not soap-boxing—please! These are
sordid matters and 'conspiracy theory'—with its many half-truths, mis-
directions and outright frauds—is used politically by different groups with
major and minor effects spread throughout the spectrum of time and thought.
That being said, CTRLgives no endorsement to the validity of posts, and
always suggests to readers; be wary of what you read. CTRL gives no
credence to Holocaust denial and nazi's need not apply.

I like the idea of a back-up. If you go to YahooGroups and "edit your
membership" for the ctrl list, you can tell it not to send emails. Then we
have a list to write to right away in case ListServ goes down again. Just my
2 cents.

Rich Slick has or had two such lists - one for those who liked to read a
lot and not write and one for those who want to write and to
read...it suited the overflow.

Only thing to worry about would be double entries..

Maybe Rich Slick would have a few pointers on this - but if one joins
both lists, you get double mail often.

I dropped off Rich Slick too much religious crap and no conspiracy to
amount to anything, though I always liked Rich Slick and his online
Troll.

Anyway times are really serious now and all last year the FEDS let
people think this was millennium year? This is year of Millennium and
the bible prophecies must be fulfilled and as Sharon said - hey he rules
the world, we have put Israel over the USA and this Zionist thing is
attempting to wag the dog?

Yes, indeedy do, seems like aol's listserver is up. They sure didn't let me
no anything as usual.

My suggestion is that we keep both trains running. A person may go to
http://groups.yahoo.com/group/ctrl and make it so one doesn't receive emails,
and if one includes the yahoo groups address in a group with aol listserv
it will also create another archive.
