Personally, I believe that "plausibility" is a better criterion. -Caveat Lector- First, I am not saying that I agree or disagree with the posting at issue. Censorship is defined in my dictionary as something done by a public official, so you are corrrect that this action does not meet the formal definition of censorship. (I believe that the courts have addressed the issue of freedom of expression on "public" newsgroups, and the role of newsgroup moderators; does anyone have any information on this?) And certainly, it is not feasable for every newsgroup to accept every posting. For example, CTRL is not the place to post restaurant reviews. However, I believe that the prevention of a certain ideas or viewpoint from being expressed is in fact censorship as that term is commonly understood. On the other hand, I also support the right of newsgroup moderators (or indeed any webmaster) to define limits as to the content they will accept for posting. As a magazine publisher with a website who does not publish every submission, it would be hypocritical of me to criticize a newsgroup moderator for exercising the same discretion. But on the other hand (I think I'm on my third hand), I like to think that I am exercising editorial judgement of the submission as a piece of writing (i.e. is this an interesting and well-written article) rather than rejecting an article because I don't like and/or believe the opinions expressed in the article. Why use the future tense ? Many a Native American asked this question
might offer answer(s) which could be very informative for you.
E.g., Residents living along parts of the Alaskan coastline ("the Last
Fronntier" ?) might be quite puzzled by this view (and even then without
reference to the Japanese invasion and occupation of Alaska (that's some
20% of the USA !!) during WWII.
It seems to be a habit of the colonial whites, that the Nations colonised
by them are forever thereafter changed. (Though is such always for the
worst ?)
In global terms, the whites have never been the majority, nor are they
ever likely to become so. As with most, if not all great inventions and
discoveries, the skills and insights required to engineer change (albeit
environmental, technological or intellectual) have always resulted from
the researches of a few minority seekers of understanding, many of whom
just happen to be pale/white-skinned. Only when one is in an environment
without worries concerned with access to food, shelter and companionship
does the luxury of intellectualism develop and evolve. Being born to a
family with such resources (and being able to defend them !) is the key,
NOT being born 'white' per se.
In my view, most humans (of whatever skin shade) contribute little if
anything novel to the development of their own society. It is the minority
eccentrics (both constructive and destructive) who are remembered.
