All true, but can you imagine wrapping a thesis around any of these
postulations? I'm not long out of college, so the very idea makes me cringe!

 Edward
It seems to me that the greatest con of all times has got to be the
fractional reserve system of banking and its evil off-springs: central
banking and the IMF. This has caused and continues to cause more hard
ship then any other con that I can think of. Through this scheme vast
amounts of money have been transferred and continue to be transferred
 from producers to parasites.

Oh, I forgot. Some people try to graduate from college. Its been so
long, I forgot. In fact, I guess I really didn't understand the concept
when I was going to college. I thought you were supposed to be there to
learn. My major was musical composition. My senior year I tried to get
an orchestra composition I had written performed called "Pilgrims
Progress". It was a piece which illustrated in sound the movement of
humanity towards freedom. You can imagine how that set with my
homosexual, athiest, marxist composition teacher. He said: "your music
will be performed over my dead body". Fortunately, I was able to
restrain myself. I left school without the piece being performed and
without a degree, but in less then a year it was performed before 4,000
people by a professional orchestra and I recieved a standing ovation.
Not long afterwards I recieved a letter from the school saying that I
would be graduated at the end of the month. The degree hasn't done me
nearly the good that the experience did. Even if I had never gotten a
degree, I would be glad I chose the path I did. You can bet if I were in
school and had to do that thesis I'd be using fractional reserve banking
as my example!

best wishes, Howard Davis

Touche' oh windmill tilting one! But yours would seem to be an argument for
my point in the long run. Two things must be accomplished through higher
education: learning foremost and graduation second. Some do not have your
demonstrated--and admirable--fortitude when it comes to bucking the system.

BTW, if your piece, "Pilgrim's Progress" is the same one I'm thinknig
about, you are a genius!!

You're right about that, I guess. I never set out to be a rebel. I
really just wanted to get along. But, I am sorry to say, there is only
so far I can bend.

I wish that were true. I doubt that you have heard it unless you live or
lived in Atlanta. It was performed at the Fox Theater at a "Star Wars"
concert in 1978 and again at Georgia State University in 1983. It was
played on the radio a couple times in Atlanta. Those are the only
performances I know of. However, I did send a copy of the score and all
parts to the St.Petersburg Symphony (Russia) and never heard from them.
It could be floating around and I have never heard about it. Wouldn't
that be wild. Where did you hear "Pilgrim's Progress"? It may be Ralph
Vaughn Williams'. He wrote an opera based on the story in the thirties.

best wishes, Howard Davis

Thank you for the inspiring story. Although I am a little bit curious why
exactly a "homosexual, atheist, marxist composition teacher" would object
to your musical composition, presumably, a work that expresses humanity's
movement towards "freedom."

I would imagine that an individual who holds heterodox views
would be interested in "freedom." But come to think of it, how would you
differentiate music that is "free" from the "unfree" variety? Isn't music
just music?

Regards,

Wm
