Let me respond to some of your points if I may. The issue of " Khazars " is not new to the net or this list. Nor is it minor. It is an issue of deep religious and geo political significance. It was the basis for a conspiracy by racists to make the claim that European Jews were not really Jews at all but an entirely different ethnic group who were fooling the world into giving them real estate in the Middle East, and claiming the title of " chosenness " as is stated in the Bible. This creates a disconnect to a physical place, and creates a vacuum in religious history that benefits Christians who claim to have replaced " Jews " as god's new favorite. Now, I should say at this point that I am an atheist and find this stuff to be ridiculous. But it affects the attitudes of many people who must live with each other in this country, and it affects them all in a bad way. The results from these recent genetic studies of the Kohan gene in Jews ( and the study of genetic markers in the semi-isolated western Irish populations ) are definitive proof of the lies. That conspiracy of racists is finished. It was killed by science just like the theory that the Earth is the center of the universe was killed by scientific evidence. Poley has been arguing the Khazar line for over four years. You can see his stupidity in the archives of this list. It is for this reason that I am looking for a real response instead of his pathetic avoidance of either admitting his error, or proving the genetics wrong.
