-Caveat Lector- It was a hotbed of espionage and certain elements were sympathetic to the Nazis; viz. big business, aristocratic/upper class elitists. I believe though that cells of the Norwegian and Finnish resistance often hid just over the border with the help of the rural population. Sweden actively traded with Germany, the Enskilda Bank and SKF had a virtual monopoly on ball bearing production and when the Allies tried to pressure Sweden into curtailing shipments to Germany they threatened to end shipments to Britain and the USA in retaliation.
