Not writing VFAT directory entries, or with case preserving names?
Run stat on original and converted files.

Does FAT support ACLs?

Re: RPC clnt_create() adress already in use

2018-03-02 Thread PAULUS, Raimund, TI-ABN
High Mark,

i did it already. Building cygwin1.dll in Cygwin 2.5.1 is ok, but using it
delivers the message:

"The procedure entry point CancelSynchronousIo could not be located in the
dynamic link library KERNEL32.dll".

It seems, i have to continue in using the old Cygwin 1.5.8 release for my Win
XP SP3 boxes.

...And there's a FAQ that tells how to build the Cygwin DLL. Provided you have
installed all the necessary tools listed there, it is straightforward to do.

In general on this mailing list, we do not trouble shoot third
party tool. They should support you.

Yesterday, my computer installed some updates for Office

KB3172459 64-Bit Edition

KB4011690 64-Bit Edition

KB4011697 64-Bit Edition
Then when I try to compile my bootloader, using the suppliers

this is only a warning.

This problem is probably due to using incompatible versions of the cygwin DLL.

Search for cygwin1.dll using the Windows Start->Find/Search facility
and delete all but the most recent version. The most recent version
*should* reside in x:\cygwin\bin, where 'x' is the drive on which you
have installed the cygwin distribution. Rebooting is also suggested
if you are unable to find another cygwin DLL.

Have you looked if you have more than one version of cygwin1.dll ?
Have you rebooted ?

sed seems to force UC filename on Mixed 8.3 filenames on FAT32

2018-03-02 Thread Fergus Daly
Noticed just lately that sed seems to force 8.3 (all upper-case)
file-naming if applied to 8.3 file on FAT32 filesystem. For example

~> ls -al /j/P*
-rw-r--r-- 1 dell ferg 6767 Mar 2 09:15 /j/PStart.xml
~> sed -i '/count/d ; /date/d ; /time/d' /j/PStart.xml
~> ls -al /j/P*
-rw-r--r-- 1 dell ferg 6767 Mar 2 09:16 /j/PSTART.XML

This used not to happen; and on a exFAT filesystem, the uc/lc Mixed is
preserved even if filename is 8.3.

FYI

~> uname -sr ; /usr/lib/csih/winProductName.exe
CYGWIN_NT-10.0-WOW 2.10.0(0.325/5/3)
Microsoft Windows 10 Professional, 64-bit (build 16299)
~> sed --version
sed (GNU sed) 4.4
Packaged by Cygwin (4.4-1)
