2015-12-16 Thread jrsyangl

On opening Cygwin for the first time in Windows 10, I get the message:
0[main] bash 8428 find_fast_cwd: WARNING: Couldn't compute FAST_CWD
pointer. Please report this problem to ...

I get every time I open Cygwin.

Migration to Xeon

2011-07-26 Thread jrsyangl
I am a fortran user, not a fortran developer, so I hope this is the
right place to post this message. I have been using gfortran 4.4 under
Cygwin very happily on a Dell Precision 350, WXP 32 bit system for 3
years. I am about to upgrade to a Dell T1600 Xeon W7 64 bit system. Are
there any issues and problems that I should know about? TIA

Lou

Re: lpr works? FAQ in error?

2008-07-17 Thread jrsyangl
As a follow-up and clarification to my previous post, what I would like
to be able to do is to pipe output to a printer, e.g.
 ls -l | lpr
This doesn't work for me as I explained previously. Using notepad /P
instead of lpr doesn't work either. Is there a simple way to do this?

Re: Freeze with the letter "e"

2008-07-16 Thread jrsyangl
I have not been able to post to the list for some reason so I hope this gets
through. The problem does not seem to be simply one having to do with CRLF,
or the letter e. The problem occurs even after using dos2unix. The problem
occurs when the editing is done with SciTe (with LF returns) and with vim.
If an echo command is inserted in .inputrc, the problem is with the letter
e; for date, the letter d; and for pwd the letter p. I have not run through
the rest of the alphabet. # comment lines cause no problem. If I source
.inputrc, the commands (echo, etc) run fine. I saw a similar problem posted
on a ubuntu forum, but no solution. My Google and other searches have not
been helpful. Any help would be appreciated.

Mark, I hope you do not mind that I am CCing this to you. I think cygwin
thinks I am a spammer for some reason and has been blocking me.
