[ANNOUNCEMENT] pcre 8.40-1

2017-01-27 Thread Yaakov Selkowitz
The following packages have been uploaded to the Cygwin distribution:

* pcre-8.40-1
* libpcre1-8.40-1
* libpcre16_0-8.40-1
* libpcre32_0-8.40-1
* libpcrecpp0-8.40-1
* libpcreposix0-8.40-1
* libpcre-devel-8.40-1
* libpcre-doc-8.40-1
* mingw64-i686-pcre-8.40-1
* mingw64-x86_64-pcre-8.40-1

The PCRE library is a set of functions that implement regular expression
pattern matching using the same syntax and semantics as Perl, with just a
few differences.

This is an update to the latest upstream release, which includes a number
of bugfixes.

Can you update these to include the static library as well? I requested this
before:

http://github.com/cygwinports/mingw64-x86_64-pcre/issues/1

Certain Git builds require PCRE, so I was happy to see that mingw64-x86_64-pcre
is offered. However it was a waste because only the shared library is included,
so I currently still have to build static PCRE myself.

Workaround; static library is available here:

http://repo.msys2.org/mingw/x86_64

Example:
