Cygwin build of perl5.8.5 (cygwin-thread-multi-64int)

2004-12-01 Thread Tom Axehult

My environment shows USERNAME different from USER, possibly the reason of
the failing installation.
I start cygwin with HOME and USERNAME containing white space, changing it to
HOME without, thus complying with script requirements? I have in vain under
this condition reinstalled perl using the ‘Cygwin Net Release Setup Program’
version 2.427.

On my deposit of postings to the group '[EMAIL PROTECTED]'
I haven’t seen any clue to my problem with cygwin-thread-multi-64int.

Can anyone explain the outcome of running what follows on an XP, SP2?

No sorry, I cannot explain this. It works here with my XP/SP2 so it is
not a generic problem. I'm seeing that perl writes a file to /tmp
instead this error.
Maybe perl doesn't like your TMP drive:
 TEMP = `C:\DOCUME~1\TOMAXE~1\LOKALA~1\Temp'
 TMP = `C:\DOCUME~1\TOMAXE~1\LOKALA~1\Temp'

Create /tmp and set TMP TEMP to /tmp.

How shall I start cygwin assuming var. USER and USERNAME contain white
space. I try in my .bash_profile in '/cygdrive/c/cygwin/home/Tom Axehult '
to
export USER=Tom
export HOME=/home/$USER

to source .bashrc in '/cygdrive/c/cygwin/home/Tom'

I'm not sure if it's applicable here but have you tried rebaseall?
