However, since you didn't follow the Cygwin problem reporting guidelines at http://cygwin.com/problems.html, and didn't attach the output of cygcheck -svr to your report, the above is just a WAG. my /usr/lib mount works okay, my latest -mno-cygwin linking after upgrading gcc fail also, (I do that automatically with a cronjob and didn't have a look, since only the xvidcore/dshow build failed) but I think it's just missing the libuuid. at least for me. I have the -luuid together with the other w32api libs, -lwinmm -lole32 -loleaut32 -lcomctl32 just for the libuuid symbols get I more undefined references to `_GUID_NULL' _IID_IUnknown, _IID_IPropertyPagem, _IID_IPersist, ... And what do I find? there's a new /usr/lib/libuuid.a which takes precedence over /usr/lib/w32api/libuuid.a therefore my uuid symbols don't get found. $ cygcheck -f /usr/lib/libuuid.a e2fsprogs-1.35-1 aha, the culprit! please de-install all e2fsprogs, then it will work. efsprog maintainer: please move this to your subdir /usr/lib/efsprog/libuuid.a Thats it, thank you for the analysis, I just thought all the time after the thread, why are all libraries found, but uuid isn't? Where can I fetch the actual packages to do a review? Not available yet - I'm trying to package these using the generic build script, which is new to me (well, not really, but new enough that I'm having some problems getting things put in the right place.) I hope to have packages available sometime today or tomorrow. -Samrobb

[ITP] e2fsprogs, e2fsimage
Hello, I am interested in packaging and maintaining e2fsprogs for Cygwin. Version 1.35 pretty much builds OOTB. My primary interest in e2fsprogs is not the utilities themselves, but the ext2 libraries that are built as part of the package. These ext2 libraries are a pre-requisite for another package that I would like to contribute, e2fsimage. With the ext2 libs from e2fsprogs-1.35 built and installed, e2fsimage also pretty much builds OOTB, and is able to create a basic ext2 filesystem image based off of a Cygwin directory. I've placed both these packages in the Devel category, because they are primarily intended for use by folks using Cygwin as a host platform for cross-development. If folks would prefer it, I could see about packaging and installing e2fsprgs as two seperate components - e2fslibs, and e2fsprogs, for example. e2fslibs could be packaged now, e2fsprogs in the future (when I actually have a chance to test against a real ext2 partition on a Windows box). -Samrobb setup.hint for e2fsprogs: category: Devel requires: cygwin sdesc: Ext2 filesystem utilities ldesc: The Ext2 Filesystem Utilities (e2fsprogs) contain all of the standard utilities for creating, fixing, configuring, and debugging ext2 filesystems. setup.hint for e2fsimage: category: Devel requires: cygwin, e2fsprogs sdesc: Utility for creating ext2 filesystem images. ldesc: e2fsimage enables the user to create and populate an ext2 filesystem image as a copy from an existing directory tree.
