strange behaviour of Xfig under cygwin

2010-10-26 Thread DEWI - N. Zacharias

Dear all,

if I try to open a library in 3.2.5b first it takes a long time before the
menu open.
Than after selecting a Library to load I get a lot of errors

File xxx.fig
Figure resolution or coordinate specifier missing in line 5
Error reading xxx.fig

By the way get this error also if I use the file open menu for the library files

What is really strange is if I open the same files on a different computer it
works without a problem.

The fstab is also the same on both computers. The only difference I see is that
the computer on which I have the problem has a Portuguese (Brasil) language
settings in Windows

Had someone encounter similar problems or know a solution for this?

Thanks
Have fun
Norbert

xfig with cygwin

2010-09-21 Thread Dwilewicz, Roman
Hello,

I am using xfig on Windows machines (xp and 7). In the last year or two
I have problems with figures when I draw patterns and then export them.
Namely in the dvi or ps files, the lines or some parts of patterns
become so thick that the pattern is not recognizable, actually half
black. It seems that it is not a problem of xfig, because if I run it on
a unix machine and export the figures (eps, pstex etc), then everything
is ok. I have not had this pattern problem before 2009. Is there some
bug in cygwin or maybe somewhere else?

With kind regards,

Roman

Unless it's obvious to you (it's not to me) that this is not X-related,
I recommend that you ask first on the cygwin-xfree list. That list
handles X-specific questions and issues. If the end result is not
it is not X-related, the issue can come back to this list at that point.
I would also recommend compiling a full problem report as outlined by
this link: http://cygwin.com/problems.html

xfig-3.2.3d-cygwin-1.3 does not work after updating to cygwin 1.3.22-1

2003-07-23 Thread Boris Narozhny
I have encountered the following problem: after updating to the
latest cygwin distribution (cygwin 1.3.22-1 and XFree that comes
with it) the xfig-3.2.3d-cygwin-1.3 stopped working - generates
lots of error messages and then terminates. Is there an update
for xfig I should be using or should I recompile it myself
rather than using the precompiled binaries? At this time I can
not even find a reference to xfig on cygwin.com.
I use WinXP Pro, SP1.

Any help will be appreciated,
Boris.

Boris,

xfig is (unfortunately) not an official Cygwin package, nor is it
currently maintained. You should be able to compile it from source OOTB,
though. If you succeed, you might consider packaging and maintaining it.
I'm sure a package proposal on the cygwin-apps at cygwin dot com list
will be cheerfully supported.

latest cygwin distribution (cygwin 1.3.22-1 and XFree that comes

FYI, the cygwin and XFree-* packages are mostly independent, so you
should provide the exact versions of these packages. Also, a list of
error messages would be helpful, on the off chance that this has to do
with some changes in some XFree-* package.
